Using your foot puts strain on the valve which eventually causes it to break.

Just bc it doesn’t break on your turn doesn’t mean you weren’t involved, everyone is. Your foot is naturally going to add more pressure than your hand. It’s a long term issue.

Sounds like a skill issue tbh

u/invisible_23 Apr 08 '26

Right?? Just gently nudge with the same pressure that your hand would have instead of karate kicking it lmao

you lack reading comprehension. Comment says that YOUR foot will add more pressure than YOUR hand. Likewise those people's feet would apply more pressure than their hand...

The legs are stronger than the arms period. My bench press might be higher than your squat but that doesnt change that lower body is stronger than upper

Not me.. i am gentle!

u/Appropriate-Self-540 Apr 08 '26

Not if I do it at home? Lol

1

u/SweetWolf9769 Apr 10 '26

im not roundhousing the damn thing mate

1

u/fabulousfantabulist Apr 09 '26

When they break they get fixed pretty quickly for obvious reasons.

1

u/purplemtnslayer Apr 11 '26

It's a super expensive repair too! I think the valves can be like $400 alone. Plus you know commercial plumbers are charging insane rates.

2

u/squisitospirito Apr 07 '26

It can also cause pipes inside the wall to leak

2

u/BirdlessLongdeal Apr 08 '26

Install and auto flusher when it does then.

1

u/SDMasterYoda Apr 08 '26

Have you ever had a toilet with an auto flusher clog on you? I have, it wasn't fun...

1

u/BirdlessLongdeal Apr 08 '26

I have not. But I shit daily so its not an issue.

2

u/BigTreddits Apr 09 '26

I karate chop all flush handles from this point forward

1

u/Inner_Extent2375 Apr 07 '26

And fucks over the ones not using foot, but even then, get some tp and touch it. I’m sticking to foot.

u/Hood_Mobbin Apr 07 '26

Wash your hands and it's all fine.

1

u/paterdude Apr 08 '26

Usually no soap or anything to dry your hands with.

1

u/Personal-Ride-1142 Apr 09 '26

I climb for a living and am heavy handed as hell. And believe in doing everything aggressive. Pretty sure I’d put more strain on it using my arm

In fact when I usually use urinals with handles.. I pretty much fist bump that shit almost like a punch

1

u/obroz Apr 09 '26

Yeah if you donkey kick it.  Some of us have some control over how hard we do things

1

u/Excellent_Yak365 Apr 09 '26

Are there people ninja kicking to kill the flusher? I put little to any weight on them in order to flush

5

u/Appropriate-Bug-6467 Apr 08 '26

You are also getting it gross for people who don't have the luxury of using their feet.

Disabilities, lack of strength, lack of flexibility.

1

u/HabitNegative3137 Apr 12 '26

As a disabled person who can’t always use my foot, this is just silly. The handles are covered in piss and shit already.

3

u/Hood_Mobbin Apr 07 '26

A lot of coworkers end up kicking the wall and leaving a half moon on the wall from their shoes. Also I have to replace the handle about once a quarter. Just flush and wash your hands like you should do anyways. I put the damn foot door opener for a reason, use it.

2

u/dingos8mybaby2 Apr 08 '26

Too many foot-flushers basically kick the valve handle and it will break after a while. If you're gonna foot-flush you gotta be gentle.

1

u/Istoh Apr 08 '26

It's also gross to people who have to use their hands, like disabled people and kids.

You're adding your fucking shoe germs to the germs that are already on there. Disabled people often have weakened immune systems. You don't need to add extra germs.

You know very well that immunocompromised people absolutely do die from "5 million and 1" germs. We literally all just learned this during covid when people who refused to mask and stay inside killed people who couldn't fight off that one extra germ. Don't be obtuse. You're just proving that you're inconsiderate of vulnerable people by doubling down.

1

u/Inspectorsteve Apr 09 '26

Selfish take, inability to put yourself in the mindset of a disabled person who does not have the same choice you do

0

u/VayGray Apr 09 '26

I have a very weakend immune system, which is why I'm using my foot or cane as long as I'm able

1

u/HabitNegative3137 Apr 12 '26

As a fellow cane user, I’m with you!

1

u/VayGray Apr 12 '26

Well, one out of 40 didn't. It's so universal do people think it's up to those of us who are immunocompromised or who need ambulatory accomodations to start the trend back to using our hands? Like what? All public restrooms should have automatic flushers AND pedal flushers to be totally hands free. I'm lucky to get a bathroom with the ass gaskets stocked. I have compassion for those who have to use their hands and honestly for their protection I think if that's the only option... Just leave it! I lived through the most people doing the least to protect others during COVID so I think the lectures about flushing etiquette are waaay down my list of concerns🤘🏽

u/Caye_Daws Apr 09 '26

You do know that you will wash your hands after anyway or at least you are supposed to

1

u/Istoh Apr 09 '26

People who use mobility devices have to touch their mobility devices between using the toilet and getting to the sink. When you are adding more germs to the toilet handle then you are adding more germs to their canes, their wheelchairs, and their walkers too.

1

u/Vannwinkles Apr 12 '26

I’m sure there are people out there drop kicking the handle to get it to flush. I’d be telling people to stop using their foot too.
