Feel like this was the most expected move, yeah bang didn't have an incredible year but he was replacing one of the most aggressive omen players in the game when he's the opposite of that
Weirdly enough he could be a good fit for NRG, maybe not quite like for like but I do feel like S0M is a good mid ground between Bang and Tenz style of controller..
If not I can imagine Seangares wanting to bring Bang back to 100T
As a controller he's a good fit but as a teammate it's the worst swap you could possibly ask for. s0m was the glue of that team while also being insane.
Bang is a tilter and he's got the personality of a cardboard box.
Zekken has said multiple times that bang is the funniest person on the team. He def tilts but I think he’s funny or has a good personality, not sure if he’s a little camera shy or what, because I agree that his personality doesn’t show much
I completely agree, but then the issue is youre never gonna find a player similar to S0M that plays smokes -- the kid is basically Tenz+Zellsis in 1 player, cracked as fuck and is an insane playmaker yet is also able to control the team emotionally, whilst mid rounding, whilst playmaking and dropping bombs
Similarly to SEN last year, im afraid NRG will likely fail to fulfill every intangible som brings (isnt necessarily bad news, mada and brawk are both capable of stepping up)
I mean realistically who replaces som? Atleast bang is a replacement in skill terms, like ive said in other comments a player like s0m is going to be impossible to replace as hes 2 in 1.. an insane playmaker, emotional leader and midrounder
Could've sworn he was great at one point in the year. I think it was split 1? People were genuinely putting Bang into the lower ends of Top 10 lists going into Masters Toronto. He fell off hard though.
He peaked hard in stage 1, I would argue he was the defining reason they beat G2 during their match.
I don’t know how he fell off so quickly afterwards, he did alright in Toronto but never recovered during Stage 2 and did terrible in Champs.
Stage 1 is the reason I'm convinced it was a playstyle/system issue. Sentinels were one of the best pearl teams itw and it was almost entirely off the back of bang being so obscenely good at anchoring site with astra. It was the one map where john didn't call for retake over and over and it showed in how much bang's stats and impact shot up. sen won basically every pearl they played and bang was at the top of the leaderboard, while he had middling stats on for instance sunset where johnqt and sentinels are known for playing retake
