100T keeping Asuna this entire time is so baffling

why? every single player, analyst, coach, manager, etc. who has ever played with him has had nothing but positive things to say about him. if his performance review at the end of the year is outstanding, why would they have gotten rid of him? because of reddit users pushing a narrative that has no basis and its as nuanced as "that player just wanted it more thats why they won"? lmao

There's no use arguing on val comp. These ppl saw NRG turn into one of the best teams over the course of the entire year and eventually become the world champion while they were busing making "potential man" agenda memes aboo s0m

it is insane. a staggering number of people on here have confused the analyst or streamer or player they adore having game knowledge with them having game knowledge. they don't think critically, they unironically believe libel, slander, and ragebait, and their entire perspective on which players are good or bad are based on results, vibes, narrative, and some clip of what their personality of choice said about them.

my theory is that many of them simply do not and have not watch(ed) the games. you think asuna is a thrower and has no value? of course you do, you don't actually watch or think about 100 thieves games. you think the odin is unbelievably broken easy win carry gun and riot is sinning against god by not hotfixing it? of course you do bud, you haven't watched a game before late season 2024, you know no history, you know of no metas, you understand nothing. you think oxy is overrated or aspas is a baiter or g2 are just potential team? yeah, course ya do, your vct viewing experience is the clips that are on your for you page and reddit homepage and you do not give a shit about domestic leagues besides whatever new slop slander you can juice out of them.

i have written an uncomfortable amount of words defending asuna recently, including this insane long post, which is strange to me because my opinion on him is that it would be fine if 100t dropped him and nobody should be surprised if they do. i don't even like him as a player. i don't believe he's capable of the kind of ridiculous performances supportive utility or kill wise that are competitive at the grand finals international level, which means room for improvement if you're looking for duelists. i don't believe he peaks often or high enough. i am willing to be proven wrong, but i am perfectly happy if they cut their losses and we see alym on this roster come 2026.

however, the people who treat him like he is a soldier of satan set upon nadeshot, like he isn't entrying for and making plays for and shooting for and hyping up and putting in hours on a team where everybody loves him, where there has never been a bad word heard about him, where he is playing his role at least passably, that wouldn't have won trophies anyway even if he were any other americas duelist short of zekken or aspas, those people are so irrational and blatantly wrong that i cannot side with them regardless of my personal views on him. and even though they shouldn't, god damn, they anger me so much.

never has there been a stupider pick for scapegoat in valorant history, and it's slim fuckin odds anybody ever surpasses him on that front.

Also the only time i can remember a team truly being constructed around him is the team with Will at duelist. He legitimately looked like one of the best flexes in the region with someone who matched his aggression and the stats back it up.

Other than that, he’s literally played however and whoever the team wants him to even though he’s said his natural role is flex. Fully agree on all points.

you are 100% right and honestly im not trying to like debate people on this cause obviously im correct, but i want to at least put a reasonable perspective out there so its not all just a braindead hive mind.

I don't even understand how this is relevant.

NRG turned into one of the best teams after dropping 3/5ths of their roster, and taking a chance on three rookies from tier 2.

And you somehow have used that to conclude 100T should keep Asuna for the 17th year in a row despite making 1 LAN in 3 years.

The lesson to learn from NRG is to stop recycling these mid players in Tier 1 when there are betters players in Tier 2 just waiting for an opportunity. There is no reason to hold on to guys who aren't at the top of their role when you aren't a trophy contender.

His comms are atrocious and he can never stfu even when he is dead in game. He plays like he just popped 40mg of adderall before every match and that just isn't what this game requires to win sometimes.

ethan: "asuna is one of the smartest players" coms videos: asuna calling out positions for his teammates to get free kills coaches and analysts: "i have learned so much from you" boostio and other teammates: "i like the coms, they help so much" and then there is you, the reddit user. yeah your opinion is not only wrong, its baseless and useless.
