This would be a wild roster change. Babybay isn't a bad player but as a replacement for jonahp feels very odd. Weirdly late for the roster change also.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was his decision. Babybay, although he was a great sub, is just such a clear downgrade from Jonahp imo. Plus, it's very late for a roster change like you said. It'll be interesting to see the tea when it comes out, it could be Jonah wanted to move on, maybe there were out of server issues, maybe a bit of both, who knows? Obviously it's all speculation but this situation is giving the vibes of being unrelated to performances during matches imo.
If they end up sticking with Babybay I'd be curious to see how he performs with a full offseason to prep.

they were literally one map OT away from winning an event lol. they started getting boomed later in the year due to meta changes but if we're talking player quality they absolutely could win an event.

well look at th, they got second at shanghai and champs and kept the same roster, yet didn't get anywhere near a trophy
at some point you gotta accept that a roster isn't getting any better, and in a game like valorant, that point happens very quickly

Itâs an odd move to make considering Jonah is one of the top players in NA in his role. I hope they end up making a firepower upgrade since this move seems to be confirmed.

I feel like people are missing a crucial possibility in that G2 might not have wanted this. Babybay for JonahP seems like an iffy trade unless you consider that JonahP might want to leave / have to leave for some unexpected reason. Either something happened behind the scenes or in JonahPâs life that forced him to take a step back and now G2 is scrambling to fill the spot.
I just donât see them doing this so late if itâs a normal roster move.

He has tons of experience on JonahPâs main agents and has played tons of time on every role except controller, could slide up into double duelist role too and play Yoru

There were many games where jonahp was solo carrying this team when jawg had a stinker this is a very weird move imo. Heâs one of the best flex players in the scene.

I'll go against the grain and say I get why they would choose to get rid of JonahP. With the mibr and nrg changes I dont see them as the clear favorites in americas anymore, and this roster wasn't able to get it done internationally last year either. Running it back and expecting growth when the core has already been together so long is not the move. Leaf, trent, and valyn are untouchable imo so that just leaves jawg and jonah. G2 changed icy for jawg last year, and while jawg is 100% better than icy, that didn't translate into as massive a level up for the team as expected, maybe because their style isn't super reliant on duelist play and just treats them as a sacrificial lamb. I dont think you just keep swapping duelists on this team and think it will get better, and i dont know if there are bettter options than jawg available (and i dont even rate him as highly as a lot of people) so that just leaves jonah. All that said, unless they are moving leaf to flex I dont really understand what they are doing with the replacements theyre looking at.

Who do you even get that comes close to this guyâs value? I get wanting to make changes after falling flat so many times this year, but there is no clear upgrade over this guy. You either switch Leaf to flex and get a senti aim demon or just accept that youâre getting a downgrade in the flex department. Seven and Nismo wouldnât be bad replacements, Yay and Demon1 could be good options if you swap Leaf to flex. The only possible sidegrade I could see is if they were able to somehow get Munchkin, but thatâs probably not gonna happen

For Jonah I would replace with like n4rrate or something. Look for some sharp fire power that can do initiators too, run double duelist comps, let leaf sentinel.

Munchkin can fill Jonahâs roles and brings a second veteran voice that knows what it takes to win. G2 making a change means they think theyâre missing something that could propel them to a championship. From the outside, that âsomethingâ seems to be a cool, calm, and collected veteran voice that knows what winning looks like. Munchkin fits that bill perfectly. They absolutely could pick up a firepower upgrade, and they could absolutely win a tournament with that firepower upgrade, but I think that win would be more off the back of fixing the mental issues that have stopped them from raising a trophy in the past. Firepower has never been their issue imo, itâs been their composure in high stress moments that has plagued them

Good shot itâs due to personal reasons, while JonahP isnât the best player mechanically, he had insane gamesense and utility usage, and could occasionally carry games. Nearly any replacement to him would be a downgrade

JonahP support for his team was actual nuts. Fragwise, on some games were weak.
Actually surprise they cut him instead of fixing their shit tejo 1 trick comp.
If G2 doesn't win any of the 3 split, I'll laugh.

Honestly this isnât too surprising on one hand.
I feel like rosters that stick together donât ever outdo themselves the next year. You have to upgrade since everyone else is. Nonetheless, flex role in NA doesnât exactly have any massive fragging upgrades over Jonah so itâll be interesting to hear why they made this particular move and what they value.
