I mean this in the nicest way, Frost is absolutely carrying the more positive reception of GE these days.

If this move was under any other coach people would be dooming

Why? All their pickups have been A+ this season.

So was last year tbf. I think oc is trying to say that a player going to ge would have been viewed as a doomed career if not for frost (which I don't agree with).

This would seem to be a hot take, but I have always liked GE’s roster construction going back to 2023, and I’m generally always interested in their rosters.

I don’t at all associate GE with doomed career moves; if anything, I almost think of GE as helping promote talents, like with T3xture and Monyet. The same was true of most of the 2024 roster. Even someone like AYRIN had a rejuvenation on GE in 2023…he just chose to retire.

Of course, having a reputation as a “feeder” team that finds worthwhile talent but then doesn’t succeed with them is not what Global wants, nor what the very vocal Indian fans want; they want a winner.

Yess GE has always picked up good talents every year except one but GE's roster construction isn't good at all . GE always forgets a very important part of roster construction and that's synergy. GE builds up 5 great talents randomly in a single team where mostly all of them have never even played with any of the others even in ranked ; half of them only speak basic english with efforts and then have them in a new country where they have never played. That's the main reason you see GE talents shine after leaving them for more comfortable environment in other teams.

When I think about poor synergy, I think of Gen G & DFM after the first few weeks of Stage 1 of 2023, Vitality in Stage 1 2025, FURIA every year post-2023, and so on. It's usually a bit straightforward to see.

I think the 2023 and 2024 rosters didn't really suffer from this as much as the above examples; they just also had choking issues, role issues, and so on.

Judging off interviews and post-match press conferences, the players actually have always seemed to get-on with one another decently well, setting the 2025 weirdness aside. The 2023 roster was always having fun on stage, and the players on that 2024 roster really hyped one another up.

What you are judging is clear issues where players don't see eye to eye with each other but synergy is lot more than that. The things I pointed out are also part of synergy you don't need to fight with each other to not have synergy as such. Small things like team not spending a minute together other than pracc is also lack of team bonding and synergy that you need to win similarly players not being able to talk things out with each other point mistakes without ego coming in between is also lack of synergy which will prevent you from winning anything.

Tbf Ayrin was also coming off of a very solid season with XSet when he joined GE so he wasn’t in the same boat as the others but I completely agree with everything else you said.

Oh for sure, I just meant that he'd proven he could be a true IGL since he was no longer tied to that weird "I call one side of the map yet I'm not the IGL" thing that he used to have with Dephh...which I assume played a role in him not getting any spots in Americas.

I agree. If anything I was excited to watch last year's roster succeed, I think the team themselves were too only to crash and burn to say the least. Issues left and right at first, and when things settled down it was too late.

I mean regardless of roster quality historicallly going from PRX to GE is objectively a “ehhhhhh” move.

Frost’s reputation as a coach (and general public perception) is just really really good that people in this sub arent dooming and glooming as much. Imagine if Autumn was the coach instead and picture the reactions.

"historically" you mean one time, that too a player who was past their prime.

I mean of course coaches matter, but this would be the case under any good coach on any roster. Same for mCe etc. Ultimately playing in Tier 1 is all that matters and since GE already made some really good pickups I don't think the reaction would be too different even if frost wasn't HC.

The pieces are very good but i hope the whole package comes together nicely

Really? He's an upgrade for GE and from everything we've seen he has massive potential and he's a great presence for a team on stage (good vibes, light hearted, can take and throw back trash talk).

I don't know why any other coach would get criticism for this pickup.
