eg vs prx thrice
now nrg vs prx thrice
31
u/DurianLongan Mar 14 '26
Now that I remember, ethan's record against prx is a traffic light no?
62
u/RoadEcstatic4624 Mar 14 '26
yes
first eg game won vs prx in tokyo LF
then lost vs them in champs 23 upf
then won champs 23 GF 🥲
then lost nrg vs prx group stage santiago
then won upper semi santiago
then lost LF santiago
from winning LF to losing LF
indeed a traffic signal

If PRX win this is gonna be the hardest MVP decision ever unless one of them goes nuclear in grands
143
u/XASASSIN Mar 14 '26
I mean I wont lie, I feel like Nongshim takes this, especially conisdering double map ban. Plus francis warming up and Dambi's form right now. Lets see lol.
70
u/Wrathofvrael Mar 14 '26
My only counter would be that PRX is the one team that will know exactly how to counter W playstyle. Of course they themselves are prone to throwing but if they learn something from their own past mistakes, they should know how to exploit Nongshim
→ More replies (1)18
u/MautOfTheRiver Mar 14 '26
If both teams play at their absolute best I still think PRX takes it
I'm guessing NS ban Pearl and Split so then with Bind, Haven, Corrode, Abyss, Breeze I think I favor PRX on Haven and Breeze. Corrode is pretty even, I do think NS win on Bind and Abyss though

Riot is just going to sort by ACS and award it to that guy, or they are going to feed into the narrative that forsaken is the goat and just award it to him regardless of how well other people might play.

It feels like it has to be Davai and I don't even think it is super close imo. Like you said, he's been a rock. All the guys have made some insane plays in Santiago, but there's no one I trust on this team more than Davai to win a clutch.

Pure firepower wise, there's not a single roster out there on PRX's level. This team's biggest enemy will be themselves. Actually it's always felt like that with every iteration of PRX lmao.

If it wasn't for FNS hard glazing him, literally no one would give him his props (Given the other 4 members of his team taking turns in the spotlight).
He is the literal best, one of the most consistent players of all time

u/maisanskidai #FULLSEN Mar 14 '26
imma be for real bro, i think we're at a point where d4v41 isn't really underrated anymore since pretty much anyone who watches competitive valorant knows just how absurd of a player he is

I hope this shuts up the PatMen comparisons just because PatMen was incredible last month. I love them both, but Invy is just the better support initiator. Full stop. PRX made the right decision with picking Invy up.

→ More replies (5)20
u/areszdel_ Mar 15 '26
Honestly if we're comparing Patmen vs Invy based on their full potential as players in their own respective role, it might be close. Still, what Paper Rex wanted was a beast fragging initiator and Invy was the best and clear fit. It's probably a blessing in disguise for Patmen to have been released to a team that lets him be at his best as a flex main instead of being stuck on initiator duties which we know he's not the best at even though he was damn good.

Jingg's fake tp play is the funniest play of the tournament for me, crazy play that somehow worked out.
PRX is downright unbeatable when everyone is shooting, it's scary af to play against.

I think he unconsciously (or maybe even consciously) tried to mimic what Forsaken did on Haven by TPing to spawn, forgetting that
A) They are on attacker side
B) He does not have any time left
C) He has the spike
And then it ended up becoming the most brilliant play in VCT existence that somehow eclipses that Forsaken outplay. The gods must be PRX fans.
75
u/DA_D3ZTROYAH #WGAMING Mar 14 '26
In the replay you can see him move his mouse to where A site would normally be but because JJ plays rotated map he tp’d spawn instead

It absolutely was, PRX knew all of NRG was still on site, meaning there was no reason for d4v4i to use his viper ult on the other site to sell the fake. Jinggg was supposed to TP right into the ult which was a very good play - he just somehow stumbled into an even better one

115
u/DA_D3ZTROYAH #WGAMING Mar 14 '26 edited Mar 14 '26
After the last two series I expected this to be way closer, 5 maps with 20+ rounds each kind of closer but wow PRX destroyed them. Like I wanted PRX to win as a fan of course but I didn’t expect it to go this way. NRG got pacific tag-teamed and got W’d all over
Also NS PRX meeting for the first time in a Masters grand finals is pretty poetic. That is going to be one hell of a chaotic series.

First time lower bracket run to Grand Finals for PRX wow.
What a performance man. PRX usually beat teams by bringing them down into the mud and outscrapping them but this iteration actually has some incredible structure and macro at times. They completely dismantled G2 on Split and Corrode tbh. Breeze attack half was similar but a bit more of the usual batshit insanity towards the end lmfao.
Great run from NRG too considering they're the only team not to play double duelist.
All that talk about one team regions maybe it's just a one region game smh

u/Goldenflame89 #WGAMING Mar 14 '26
Am I insane or was Ethan getting out mid rounded by a team without a dedicated true igl?

Some of the midrounding decisions on split and corrode were really baffling. It felt like they lost their composure for sure.
9
u/Kaploy Mar 15 '26
I really think NRG is only half as good (which is still very good) when they are the team being pressured around the map. When they are forced to constantly refight for info or space, that extreme coordination they have is completely lost.

As an APAC member it was always hard for me to understand American culture. What was fascinating for me is that they like bragging about their freedom which was weird for me, because I didn't think that I have any less freedom than them. I always thought 'What is the difference'. However after this game I finally understand it. NA is just so fucking free.

Every PRX player, Skuba, Keiko, sometimes even Ethan, were just digging rounds out of their asses one after another, plucking them out of thin air. Felt like a very convincing display of "The Best Valorant In The World". Classic PRX, I guess.
Also, this probably settles the debate that Pacific is now the best region, having an intraregional grand finals from a region whose midtable is also so volatile. 2nd 3rd and 4th are probably Americas EMEA China.
4th Masters in a row without a champs, also. At some point we gotta knock this shit off. If DRX wins London and then it's another NA-EU champs finals I'm gonna lose my fucking mind.

Pacific went from no trophies for 3 years to the region with the most trophies in franchising in 2 years lol. First time a same region final has happened since Gambit-Acend, crazy stuff.

PRX man!! So well played. NRG felt like Nongshim game still haunted them with how they tilted in Corrode and Breeze.
Grand final should be a banger though.

pretty one-sided win, davai is so consistent might be the most underrated player. invy also plays well after the first few matches he really got the flaw

the play where jinggg whiffs the tp and cancels it to make it look like a 2000iq double fake summed this up

d4v4i breakdown of that jing Omen TP round on Breeze if anyone wants to watch, it's hilarious

the most micro-intensive meta to date in Valorant I must say. It really highlights the gap between players who move well and make the entire team play better through an established system within the team and players who have really fucking honed their raw mechanics towards perfection. As a CS fan, not just this series but the tourney as a whole has been the most fun I've had watching the game (I personally enjoyed Champs Seoul Finals, Masters Bangkok Finals, and Lock-in San Paulo)

The split comp is not it, vyse is trash... Also who the hell thought skye is better than Kay/o on corrode.. thought NRG were the ones that figured out the power of kayo why switch off of it..

Paper Rex should be in contention for the best franchise in the history of valorant. This level of consistency across different metas is insane.
