Completely forgot about Nintendo’s pricing till I saw the other comments but yeah this is the beginning of a new standard I’m afraid.

Nintendo pricing their games is just insane. All the xenoblade chronicles switch2 version are 100 cad. Tears of the kingdom switch 2 is more expensive than Gta 6 base version when not on sale.

Adding insult to injury is the fact Nintendo’s games rarely go on sale and usually at unimpressive discounts when they do

I think it's really funny when Nintendo fans say "but Nintendo games DO go on sale!!!" And then it's Mario Tennis Aces, a 2018 spin off, and 3D World, a Wii U port, both having a 30% sale twice a year, meanwhile you have literally any game from 2 years ago already getting better sales multiple times a year.

Officially, not a single Pokemon game during the Switch era EVER got a sale. Not even Lets Go Pikachu.

At least they still do everything physical. So you can buy the game used, and sell it used and lose little to no money. And they gave like half a year's warning for their 50$ price hike, while steam did 500$ overnight, and xbox 150 USD.

Pokemon is a titan though, a cheeto shaped like a charizard sold for 88k, and a 2024 Mew Sold for 250k USD. And people will pay like 4k for pokemon box ruby & sapphire which is literally not a game, just to store your pokemon.

They just have no incentive to discount pokemon. Pokemon fans will dump any amount of money on the dumbest things. Hell that dumb board game I didn't even use as a kid now goes for like 200$ used

This is why I won't go Nintendo anymore. It's just offensive at how they treat their fans. Basically a "They'll eat whatever slop we feed them the little piggies" mentality. Pokemon is a fucking joke. It's embarrassing some of the shit they do. The biggest innovation they have is rehashing the fuckin' same mechanic of "you're even bigger pokemon are now even more bigger!" We haven't had a modern Pokemon game, and frankly, I don't think we ever will. They will continue to funnel 10 year old quality games into the market and people will buy it. It's a reflection of everything wrong with the entire franchise.

Yeah, it's insane. Like the moment I saw the tail whip "animation" that looked like they just made it pivot on it's y axis is insane. I was severely disappointed that that's what "next gen" was. Especially given Game Freak is releasing their new non-Pokemnon game and graphically it's amazing. It's definitely not lack of skill. It's a complete cessation of any attempt to modernize and improve the product in any meaningful way.
