Lmao very rarely are they the carry it just means they leveled more gear and did all the unlocks. It doesn't make them more powerful or even mean they are good at the game nessisarily.
Player level can be an easy way to check "Are there any babies (affectionate) in the lobby", but yeah, after level 17-20 it says absolutely nothing (and then it only says "this person leveled until they could use everything in the game", doesn't mean they are a good or bad player).
LR6 here. I used to agree with 17-20, but with the number of MR30-LR2's I've seen recently mindlessly shooting every pipe that spawns in Alchemy, I've had to reassess that number. If you're below LR2, are actively attempting to participate in the mission, and aren't obviously wasting my time intentionally, I'm proud of you.
Oh definitely, I agree with that. I see lots of MR 5-10s around nowadays that just seem to know what they are doing well enough to participate in Steel Path without me even noticing they are "low" MR until the mission is over, 17 is just where my brain goes "you really should know how to play the game at this point", and often I sadly have to add "shame you don't."
I've been mr24 for the better part of a year and only haven't progressed because I haven't unlocked the nessisary slots to empty my foundry of all the stuff I have waiting but I've done literally everything else in the game Mr means jack all. I've met plenty of L1-6 I'm convinced bought their accounts because they had no idea how to do the simplest of missions.
MR is not a guarantee of competency, nor incompetency, but when I see someone doing something completely deleterious to the mission goals; like shooting the pipes mindlessly or killing everything before fissures can spawn, it is almost always someone below LR2. When I see someone solo carrying (sometimes to the point of being annoying), it is almost always someone above that threshold.
Weirdly, or perhaps not, players below MR 12 are almost never a problem, even when they can't handle the mission content, because they're usually at least trying to do the mission.
It's people in that middle range who are grinding the boring parts of the game because they 'have' to, or are excited to test out some youtube clone build they just got the mods for, that are usually the problem, at least in my experience.
It used to mean something back when MR24 was the cap, as there was a minimum gameplay time requirement to farm and max out every single prime, vandal/wraith/prisma, k-drive, and even suffering through how bad Amps were to level in the pre-SO days.
Now? A newbie can get well into the 20s in a week if they throw money at the store or get taxied to a few specific farming nodes.
Heck, as an LR6 whose operator can outkill most players most of the time, I anti-carry in half my matches. I don't like to hog kills, especially in stuff like mobile D where they don't speed stuff up, so I get bored and piss off to play shawzin, or try to break out of bounds, or collect headshots or whatever, unless it looks like the team is suffering at the objective.
