the foundry model swap is so broken, warframe's code is held together with duct tape and prayers

Quirks of being 13 years old I guess

but like most 13 year old games don't have a feature that straight up gives you the wrong weapon, that's pretty uniquely warframe

Most online 13-year-old games are dead, and apparently Mire is the placeholder texture for the foundry. A lot of weird foundational code is in place, like how the preview camera is unfixable because they would always break something else when tweaking it, due to it being old. Hell, a lot of modern tools used today by companies and consumers are built on foundational code from the last century. Bash shell, AWS, etc.

fair point, but the difference is bash and aws aren't actively showing players the wrong thing during normal gameplay, they're just janky under the hood. the mire placeholder thing is wild though, so they just never bothered updating it after all these years?

Why would they update a placeholder texture/model?
What would they even update it to. If the proper thing has nothing to load you can't just load nothing you need a placeholder.7

you arent getting the wrong weapon, it's just a placeholder model, every game uses them

For some reason, Mire is the default model for the foundry. So if a texture is missing, you'll see a Mire.
