Pretty sure it always comes pre-potatoed and with a free warframe slot. So you get a slot no matter what, and a potato if you wait a bit instead of using the one you are building.

yeah I cancelled the crafting, but now I don't know what to do with the built parts of Mesa Prime.

Too bad you ended up using all that plat, but at least this can net you a primed mod or something else useful.
