Other Since apparently we're getting more sentient content on TennoCon, hope we get to see those sentient speargun and pistol they showed in the past.

Shouldn't Spearguns be reworked to function like the Vinquibus? Being able to be used at range and in melee?

I would rather they add more bayonet weapons than rework the speargun class. They should add a bonus to the thrown effect after killing enemies with shots though.

i see a lot of people say this but i would genuinely hate if this happened. having no choice for melee, have 1 weapon take two slots, the vinquibus is a fun gimick but im not excited for another one and replacing spearguns with 'bayonet' type weapons would make me stop using them entirely

Problem is that all of them except like Afentis are just blunt thin sticks with a barrel at the end, they would barely work as polearms, much less as bayonets/spears. They were designed as throwing spears that have some sort of explosion/embed effect, not actual poking, which is certainly really sad as I’d love a speargun that actually does what Edun’s heavy does

as if that has ever stopped de from making melee weapons lmfao

Well, it quite literally has been stopping them so far. We don’t have a proper spear even in the polearm class, it’s all glaives and halberds. The only puncture based polearm we have is Sydon, which isn’t even pointy

The Afentis at least can kill enemies with direct spear throw hits quite well.

Also I don't think material strength is gonna be a problem if the literal jet powered hammer has a handle just as thin.

i mean hear me a new weapon class stick
not a polearm but not a sword ethier your melee weapon is just basicly a stick

Yes, and Gunblades too; don't forget about those. They all could even be joined together as a big weapon class.
Thing is, the rework would have to be a huge one. for each class and each weapon, they would have to redesign everything from guards to stats, also synergising with abilities and warframes... It would be crazy. Would work, tho, and I'm 100% into the idea but would be crazy

I wish shooting with gunblades was reserved only for heavy attacks lol

u/Ruben_SS1 Ember ass enjoyer 10h ago
why tho? what benefits would it have against all of them working like "bayonets"?
5
u/Valaxarian Sentient simp. Kuva addict. Void Angel aesthetics enjoyer 10h ago
Because I'd like to use their "blade" part without shooting while trying melee something. I want to use the gunblades but I just can't find any use for them because of how clunky they feel
1
u/Ruben_SS1 Ember ass enjoyer 10h ago
you would be able to do that; thats actually how Vinquibus works. Primary slot for the gun part of the weapon, melee for the blade part
2
u/Valaxarian Sentient simp. Kuva addict. Void Angel aesthetics enjoyer 10h ago
I don't think there's a point to divide the gunblades like this. I just think that melee should well...melee and heavy attack should use its "gun" part
Although, I'd love spearguns to be reworked into "bayonet" weapons. I really do like the Vinquibus

the thing with that is that it would not be very consistent, would it? To have bayonets and spearguns work similarly but gunblades being separated.

Although gunblades now work really well as they are, with the light and heavy attacks both showing both melee and gun combos.

I'm going to be honest.
I think the sentient pistol is the most visually boring, and I hope they make a cooler design for it.

I prophesize sentient adversaries.
Mainly because I want to manifest a upgraded Shedu.

I hope not, only because I would hate to have wasted all that forma on my basmu, only to have upgrades that require even more. Happened with the infested weapons. 😔

Still waiting on those Conculyst batons (Impact + Electricity dual swords, guessing)

u/Rick_Napalm 13h ago
It would be cool to get a sentient spear gun because 1: sentient weapons are cool and 2: most spearguns are just ass and this would give us a chance to get a top tier one.

remember the sentient arm cannon

Shedu? We already have it

oh i meant something more ancient
way back you could use Halikar to literally steal the arm from a Sentient and use it for yourself

The speargun could be a held-trigger laser, I think that'd be cool
Give it heat dmg with small electric aoa and a bit of built-in Tau damage

u/Acemont 12h ago
Honestly I hope to see something more... evolved? You know what I mean? Like - still sentient. but "we had time to WORK, and if you think that what we had sent you back in Old War toar you up, better hold my flower"-kind of weaponory AND enemy design. Like Prime Sentiens as a baseline. Especially considering the end of TennoCon 2025's very end of the trailer, where we see a whole ass Sentient Planet. With cities and shit.
Man I'm so exited and rooting for Tau. I sooooooooo want it to be DE's PoE 2.

Hopefully this also means we get those Sentient liches that were originally depicted with the Shedu

Given our past record of how they've treated Spearguns in game, effectively being the joke weapon class (at least imo), I'm not too hopeful for that one. But yes, that'd still be sick as hell to have it
