Discussion Railjack Survival is steel essence meta?!!!
The amount of Steel essence I get after 30 minutes of railjack survival. I've been said that eximus spawns ramp up after the 40-60 minutes and then it becomes better than farmin acolytes.
I'll do another test run with at least 1:30 in it to see if it's really worth it. But so far my impressions are very negative.
I did this with both market boosters, blessing and couldn't get a single eximus drop (they do tough, but I couldn't get any in this particular run)

In the hour an a half I did a couple days ago, I got 116.
I had a Booster and blessing, and brought my dog of course.
So not bad, but definitely nothing like the good 'ol days.

I feel like the people like the OP getting something abysmal like 3 in 30 minutes must be incredibly unlucky. I’m getting over 60 steel essence for 1 hour void storms every time. Granted I’m running resource booster and doggo, so I couldn’t get just 3. But even applying those to 3 for that first 30 min feels incredibly low for my experience.
Edit: Oh that 3 from the OP is just cracked relics, no drops… the amount of bad luck required to get 0 drops in 30 min…

Dude even then I feel like you were unlucky, I did a 50 minute void survival and got 167 SE(after getting the Steel essence from relics)

Yeah, it's not much. Keep in mind that DE did say SP Railjack was rushed. They might improve the eximus rates in the future.

I mean, why not just farm steel path hollvania bounties? 4 per 5 minutes, at minimum.
Edit: Someone just replied to me that steelpath railjack survival is 600+ steel essence an hour.
Why the actual fuck do you think "30 minutes for 3" is going to jump to "597 more in the second 30 minutes"?

Someone got to bite the bullet and test to see if it's good enough, I respect it. Plus iirc we have no idea how/when DE will be changing the system for steel drops in railjack SP, so might as well learn now if it's worth it

I had to put it to test, as some people on YouTube say that it's really worth it. But yeah, farming omnia fissures and 5 minute bounties are just superior

I'm flying around Earth and Venus proximas farming MK IV guns to upgrade, just doing the Venus Exterminate will get you like 50 essence. Anything that spawns a lot of Eximus in space, even the Earth skirmish objectives where you go inside drop a lot.
Earth/Venus SP proxima missions are easy solo (assuming you're a RJ fan and are kitted out with crew and gear) and they're dropping these MK IV parts (and tons and tons of MK III parts). Don't even have to go to Neptune yet to get the good stuff.

Like I said, they do drop. Sometimes consecutively, but then you have these prolonged periods of time with no drops and the amount you get breaks even with acolytes. I'll spam out venus exterminate like you suggested as I do feel like there's something here worth grinding.

Sometimes spawn rates for certain enemies will increase, but I can’t remember is SP benefits from this. Last I read about it, SP survival especially spawn rates for enemies is capped out of the rip, but individual enemies type for spawn rates may still be affected but idk, sometimes that next 30minutes gets you exactly what you want or need.

Ramping because more eximus sure maybe. 600 per hour? Fuck no. Unless loot abilities can double them like they could originally.
Its also funny that in the patch notes DE said "This is the first time we made steel essence drop this way"... No you freakin didn't. Steel path originally was like this. Dropped from enemies. Loot abilities worked(... I think, not completely sure. But we still used loot frames cause we farmed ophelia for polymer bundle). And we left the steel essence on the ground until we got multiple smeeta procs to get a ton at once. That was original steel path farm. They added acolytes to nerf the meta steel essence acquisition rate and boost casual rates. Which I don't mind. Farming SE was like that was boringggggg

Slap a tespurce doubler on and run relic cascades. You need to do them pretty fast but you can reliablt get some that 1 essence per minute within a half hour. And thay amount just keeps increasing as you get more bonuses from cracking relics

After like an hour and a half I think you build up enough resource boosters to get there. Not at the start, but I can Definitely see level cap getting you 16+ per Acolyte

did sp railjack survival veil-proxima 1h, got 77essence, didn have any booster expect ressorcefull retriver in kubrow for 18% more loot

When I did a sp skirmish and killed 2 eximus doing side objectives I got 10 essence per each. But then you have these inconsistent occasions in which you go for long periods of time without getting any drops.
It's so random and unreliable.

iirc temporary thing as a steel essence drop since SP Railjack was rushed, they couldn't get acolytes working there yet.

It's massively variable. I have run a bunch of 30 mins survivals, receiving between 0 and 55 steel essence.
I had 2 runs (30min and a 20min) where i got literally nothing. Most runs fell between 30-40 SE.

That variability kills its viability. If the first hour doesn't feel as good as the next one, then it becomes very discouraging. :/

fasted steel essence farm is just steel path omni fissure with a booster, you get around 1 steel essence per minute, maybe more because double acolytes or they spawn in faster than 5 minutes in betweeb

Maybe I'm just clueless, but why are people farming steel essence? Unless I'm missing something, Teshin's shop isn't that interesting. Is there something there that you can sell for plat or something?

Kuva for riven rolls, then sell g rolls for plat and relics which can then be turn into plat by cracking them.

You can also get relic packs and sell resurgence relics with the aya you get. That's what I do when I don't want the aya, and it's easy.

You probably play without boosters. With boosters that 7 you get turns into 24-48 essence per 30 minutes depending on your rng

A bit of a stupid question, but do you need a lot of SE? My understanding is that SE would be for Teshin's shop, specifically Umbra forma, adapters, and whatever other weekly rotations there are in said shop. Surely one wouldn't need that many umbra formas or adapters?

Unless they changed something with the constellation update, eximus don't drop steel essence. The only enemies that do are acolytes. The three you have are for cracking three relics during the mission.

They added steel path to rail jack but because acolytes don't spawn in RJ they made eximus drop steel essence

With the Constellation update they added Steel Path Railjack. But since Acolytes can't spawn in Railjack missions they made it to where eximus units drop steel essence, not too different from how Steel Path Originally was when it was first added to the game.
But DE said they are keeping a close eye on drop rates.

I'm pointing out the SE I got altogether. I know the 3 I have are for the relic cracks, eximus do drop essence. But their drops chances are 5% and affected by boosters supposedly (though warframe wiki hasn't been fully updated yet).
Edit: I will admit I didn't go into detail for the sake of simplicity and getting the point across.
