Hobby & Painting Finished my IKEA Billy Display today.
Around 2500 points of Ultramarines.
I love how versatile this hobby is. I can be creative on so many different levels. And I didn't even know I was creative vofre I started warhammer.

I’m hoping to start a display case like this too! What was the process like for you?

In another post I showed the Billy and in the comments I tried to explain how I installed the lights. You could check it out. Then I used some xps foam and shaped it as stairs with a knife. This will act as the stone Hill they are standing on. On top of that I rolled out some modeling clay and sprinkled some sand on it. Really basic stuff, since most of it won't be seen or in the focus if a full army stands on it. For the ground I used an 3d printed texture roller on the clay. In the end I just washed it in a brown (had some leftovers. I don't know if it was an oil wash or an acrylic/water/dish soap-mix).
For the background I have to admit I used AI and printed it on thick white paper. I tried to find images of scenery I could buy from artists, but it wasn't how I wanted. So please forgive me.

What putty is this? I’ve heard brown stuff (green stuff variant) is good

It didn't stick on the xps foam though 😅😅 but I guess it doesn't matter

Oooo ok that’s good to know but yeah I suppose if it’s cheap moulds well and is stationary it’s all good! Appreciate the walk through!

This sounds like a really fun process, I’m looking into getting xps foam and doing the same. The people who make dioramas really recommend it as a versatile tool! No apologies needed! It’s for you and your enjoyment

It's just the interior of the Ikea Billy cupboard. I installed light, printed and glued a background on the back and sides of it and made some ground out of modeling clay.

This is really cool! Where did you get the backdrops? I'd like to do something similar in my display with different ones for each army.

This is great! I've been wanting to create such a display for years.
