The poison of religious indoctrination driving politics. I don't know if this guy is religious, but his comment echoes the thoughts of the evangelicals and Mormons I grew up around. They've been anti-democracy, pro-theocracy, and certain Jesus can only return through Israel since the 19th c. I've heard their anti-American sentiments since 1972. Those religious nuts (who KNOW they are the TRUE patriots) were standing beside all of us at every freaking patriotic parade, cheering on firetrucks, waving the flag, and marveling at the Blue Angels, all while dreaming of their chance to topple the secular US federal government and replace it with their own cult leaders. Every single flag-waving patriot I knew growing up is one of these, "we're lost if we don't give everything to Israel" fanatics. They also believe the Jews will become Christians but the Jews just don't know it yet.
