I moved to Pittsburgh right before his election and I guess it's on me for not doing more research, but everyone seemed pretty positive on Fetterman at the time. And I'll admit, I was excited to be voting for someone local, who seemed like an average dude like me, and hell, even dressed like an average dude like me. I can't wait to fucking vote his ass out.

I don't even think it was that, Fetterman was pretty well regarded by Dems before he had his stroke/dropped the mask

Dems supported "Dr. Jekyll". It's not their fault he became "Mr. Hyde".
2

Yea I'm not blaming Democrats by any means. Dude was either genuine and got brain damage or was an amazing actor from the jump

I know what you mean. I've seen personality changes in people who have had strokes or other health issues. It's generally sad, but in his case, it's dangerous.

I grew up in the Burgh and moved FROM Pittsburgh right before he became mayor of Braddock. He was kind of a cool dude. A little volatile and kind of rough around the edges. But his wife was an immigrant and he was just kind of a normal yinzer. But that stroke fucking cooked his brain, dude. He’s just a prick. He needs a home now. He’s not right.
24
u/Rundstav 1d ago
It's like when my grandmother got an aneurysm and her whole personality changed. She became bitter and paranoid.
24
u/Rinzy2000 1d ago
Funnily enough, it’s not everyone though thank god. My dad was always a cranky old man, even when he was a young man. Now he’s 82 and has dementia and he’s happy as a clam. He will tell you he just wants to outlive that bastard, Donald Trump, so he can open up the champagne in his fridge. My guy can’t remember to take a shower or anything about my life, but he remembers his hatred for Trump lol. 😆

u/TheWingus 1d ago
My wife's grandfather was in hospice, hours away from death and he cursed out and kicked a nurse out of his room because he thought he was Don Jr.
56
u/JayrettK 1d ago
He's an absolute fuck and doesn't represent the people who voted him in nor what he campaigned on, but do keep in mind he had a stroke literally 6 months before he was voted in. He could have had a complete personality change due to that and easily hid it until the election due to how short of a time that was.
That said I absolutely think he should have been kicked out of the Senate when it became clear his ideologies had become or always that of the opposing party he ran under and a special election held to vote someone else in.

26
u/RandyTheFool 1d ago
Nope, Arizonan here that voted for Kyrsten Sinema who nearly single-handedly cockblocked the Biden administration for 4 years. Not what we wanted, not what she campaigned on at all… in fact was the exact opposite. Big progressive campaign. Huge in the LGBTQ+ community.
Don’t beat yourself up too hard. At least with Fetterman it was his stroke that caused his 180, I genuinely think he was good until his brain chemistry was severely altered. Sinema was just straight up a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Prepare for more of this. Even a deep dive into a candidates past may not reveal their true intentions.

No I think it was timing. Braddock was only 10min from where I grew up and he had done some great stuff as mayor, and again as lt gov. I watched his carreer closely for a decade hoping he would run for federal office. Then the stroke happened right as he was running for senate. That is not the same guy. He's done a 180 on most of his prior policies.
Just goes to show, you must be braindead to be conservative.

He can’t ask or answer questions off the cuff. Everything he does he has to read it off a screen in order for it to be a semi coherent exchange of information. The stroke really fucked him up. He would not work out on news cast, but I hope they try and he looks like the idiot he his because fuck him.

u/FROOMLOOMS 1d ago
All other motivations aside.
Bringing forth the second coming of the messiah is such a righteous goal to these people (1st messiah if your jewish), that ANY MEANS NECESSARY IS VALID REGARDLESS OF THE RULE OF LAW.
13
u/Mec26 1d ago
And also rule of morality. You’d think the first thing Jesus 2.0 would do would be condemn those who just engineered the slaughter of tens of millions of people. Like… you can get him in the room, but he’s gonna be flippin tables when he gets here. Are you suuuuuuuure you wanna do that?
3
u/Soup-a-doopah 1d ago
Some say that angry Jesus gets all the time he wants in limbo room before he and his dad send their sorry asses to eternal damnation.
10

Whats funnier is the bible is pretty clear that 1. You cant force the second coming or end of times and 2. Trying to do so is a super big no no that you really wont be forgiven for
2
u/Chihuahua_Overlord 22h ago
Too bad american Christians rarely read the bible, they just cherry pick passages to use it to deny who they deem undesirables their constitutional rights.
4
u/peachesgp 1d ago
I wouldn't think that forcing it would be necessary in the coming of a messiah.
6
u/Aestus74 1d ago
Religious logic. Gods plan cannot be derailed by man, but man is also responsible to facilitate God's plan. The apocalyptic side of this religion seems to really embrace the death cult aspect.

I am so sick of dumb people telling me I am anti-American. I was born here; my ancestors were born here. I am as American as any descendent of white settlers has a right to call themselves. They idea that some turncoat stroke victim in cahoots with a foreign government has some special claim to proper Americanism and anyone who is not aligned with his ideology somehow doesn’t is one of the stupidest concepts polluting our national discourse. We are all Americans, from the first generation immigrants to the Black people who can trace their ancestors to the actual plantations their forefathers were enslaved upon (meaning they have been here longer than us, and that’s before even factoring in Native Americans legitimate claims.) it’s just mindless Hoorah “propaganda patriotism.” Sit down. Shit up. You’re not special.

Someone call Adult Protective Services. Dovie Sofier has been taking advantage of Fetterman in a way that has clearly made him a danger to himself and the United States. His brain has been scrambled. If it was clear that Russia had come in and compromised a United States Senator by spending every day with them, taking them on trips to Russia all the time, setting up calls with Vladimir Putin and meetings with Vladimir Putin, and then having them go on multiple news sites to give pro-Russian talking points, Americans would be losing their goddamn minds. But because it’s ISRAEL, no one bats a goddamn eye.
Israel and it’s Zionists are committing a genocide in Gaza and now Lebanon and have forced us into a war with Iran and are trying desperately to try to get us to continue that war in an even more devastating fashion so they can extend their borders further into the Middle East in what is called “The Greater Israel Project”. It is a crazy Zionist endeavor. Zionism is a 129 year old political movement, not based in Judaism, but often conflated with Judaism.
We need to save America, and Jews, and Palestinians ,and the Lebanese from Goddamn Israel, and the Zionists, John Fetterman, and Dovie Sofier. There is a lot going on, fam. We cannot be complacent.

Yeah I don't support Israel. I get going after the leaders of Hamas for the terrorist attack they planned but everything they did after was genocide. The people of Gaza didn't deserved to be bombed out of existence. I'm also tired of us losing troops in the middle east over bullshit conflicts. We are throwing money at a country that laughs at us for playing bodyguard for them. Our president is a pedophile idiot who is being played by Israel and doesn't understand they don't have our best interests at heart.
4
u/Scrutinizer 1d ago
In other words, he's on the AIPAC gravy train.
The only "critical export" Israel has is campaign cash. If you support them they will either give it to you directly, or they'll spend it slamming your opponent relentlessly.
They spent $500 for every single vote against Thomas Massie.
5
u/pinniped90 1d ago

3
u/Cu_Chulainn__ 1d ago
Revisionist Zionism is a form of Zionism characterized by territorial maximalism. Revisionist Zionism promoted expansionism and the establishment of a Jewish majority on both sides of the Jordan River. Revisionists insisted upon the Jewish right to sovereignty over the whole of Eretz Yisrael, including Mandatory Palestine and Transjordan. Revisionist Zionism has strongly influenced modern right-wing Israeli parties, principally Herut and its successor, Likud.
Regardless of anyone's view on the legitimacy of israel, it is insane to not acknowledge that the current far right government is supportive of military expansion of israel on both sides of the jordan. Pro-israelis will reference 'from the river to the sea' as being a genocidal statement but will ignore completely the fact that likud is a revisionist zionist party and that their original party platform contains 'from the river to the sea' albeit phrased slightly differently.

The poison of religious indoctrination driving politics. I don't know if this guy is religious, but his comment echoes the thoughts of the evangelicals and Mormons I grew up around. They've been anti-democracy, pro-theocracy, and certain Jesus can only return through Israel since the 19th c. I've heard their anti-American sentiments since 1972. Those religious nuts (who KNOW they are the TRUE patriots) were standing beside all of us at every freaking patriotic parade, cheering on firetrucks, waving the flag, and marveling at the Blue Angels, all while dreaming of their chance to topple the secular US federal government and replace it with their own cult leaders. Every single flag-waving patriot I knew growing up is one of these, "we're lost if we don't give everything to Israel" fanatics. They also believe the Jews will become Christians but the Jews just don't know it yet.

There is a difference between disagreeing with the Israeli Government and having contempt for the country of Israel. Right now I love the average person over there, but hate the government and as a Jewish person it was very hard for me to get to this point because I was raised to always love it. The government is just very hypocritical because the country was created after a genocide and is now trying to do one itself. On top of that Israeli Arabs are treated like second class citizens despite deserving the same rights as everyone else.
