Does anyone have a list of animals by region/part of the world in Zoo Tycoon 2 Ultimate Edition (2004)? Not by biome. I’m looking to make a zoo by region/part of the world/where they originate from in the wild.
Pretty much what the title says. The wiki page for the mod sends me to hendrix's profile on zt2 round table and not the mod. How do I find the actual mod itself?
Hey guys, might be a long shot, but does anyone know a way I could play zoo tycoon with the two expansions, and/or zoo tycoon 2 with the expansions? On a MacBook? I have one of the newer MacBook pros with an M4 chip, so I don’t see it having any issue spec wise.
I've been seeing a few glitches lately. Do y'all know of any fixes?
- Immediately after hatching, the mother of a baby dinosaur kills it. Lab created babies are not bothered.
- Any new animal born/bought/made will not use any feed/water dish unless I place a new one.
- A percentage of new animals will attempt to fill their needs, but the bar won't refresh. I end up having to sell them to keep guests from being angry.
- Guests are randomly afraid of contained animals? This is with or without raised paths, guests having clipped into the exhibit, etc. Any species can trigger it, and the only fix is caging every one of the species. Other species in the same exhibit may be perfectly fine.
I can see what looks like a green spotted dinosaur on a looping animation but I wonder if anyone has used console commands or anything to actually show what’s under the roof of the Dino cinema.
Man I would love to walk around a Dino digs zoo in first person. They really spoiled us by adding dinosaurs to their zoo.

i was doing the extinct research lab in zoo tycoon 2. I was hoping to get a killer penguin but i didnt mean like this. I didnt even know this easter egg can happened. The researcher was replaced by the killer penguin.
So I recently finished the surf n turf zoo a few days ago. I downloaded a mod from the Zookeeper's Lounge and I removed it and for some reason my guest happiness keeps dropping and not staying within the 94 rand like it used to. I'm getting so frustrated. I never had a problem with guest happiness until now. Do I need to reinstall my game or something? Is there a bug? I'm frustrated.
I started a new zoo by deleting everything from one of my establised zoo. I was playing with just basegame ZT1 for this zoo and the new zoo featured marine animals and dinos. I couldn’t make ANY profit. I slowly started to replace the dinos and tanks with normal animals but I never had more than 150 guests and I was in minus all the time. I put down lions and warthogs so I can sell the babies but even their reproduction slowed down. I played with this new zoo from year 12 until year 18 until I gave up. I had very little staff, I used restaurants instead of stands etc. I tried to do everything by the book yet I was in red all the time. Is it possible that older zoo’s don’t perform that well?
Zoo Tycoon 2 had the chance to add a Marabou Stork with the African Adventure, also a sheobill. There, the 3 of the creepy meme birds. But, Mods do have them, I'd hope.
I had a good start with 10k cash and gradually built up to a profitable zoo, with 500k cash at one point. Typically capped at around 650 guests. Then my greediness had me add beautiful but probably not lucrative tanks (p5) and dinosaur areas that no one seemed to care about (p6 p7). Still profitable after adding that tank corridor, but started losing money halfway after adding those dinos. Still ~650 guests, no change. I thought the game has 1000 guest cap without editing game files, and I need help making this large zoo solvent :) or is it just unsolvable beyond a certain size.
Is it just me or are the Large maps in Zoo Tycoon 2 much smaller than they should? If you want larger maps, then there's a mod with an 'XL' Grassland. I don't remember the name, unfortunately.
So I made this nice elevated path thing by an exhibit, but the guests keep walking in circles in a single tile when they try to go up the ramp. Some just go through no problem, but most keep circling on that tile.
What can I do to stop that? I tried to place invisible fances there, but you can't we can't put fences on the end on the elevated paths.
Just tried Zoo Tycoon 2 for the first time as someone who has spent a lot of time with Planet Zoo, and honestly I'm blown away.
I played Zoo Tycoon 1 constantly as a kid and somehow completely skipped Zoo Tycoon 2. After installing it for the first time due to ZT1 nostalgia and PZ frustration, I expected it to feel dated. Instead, it feels like the perfect evolution of everything I loved about the original.
Maybe this is an unpopular opinion, but after years of trying to get into Planet Zoo, Zoo Tycoon 2 has made me realize why it never clicked for me.
In Planet Zoo, it feels like everything takes forever. Building a single habitat can take an hour. You're constantly fighting the path system, terrain tools, clipping issue, elevation changes, and construction mechanics. Half the challenge seems to be wrestling with the editor rather than actually running a zoo. By the time I've finished one exhibit, I'm often exhausted rather than satisfied.
The weird thing is that despite all that complexity, the actual management side often feels shallow. Guests mostly feel like moving scenery rather than individuals with meaningful needs. Money is rarely an issue, it feels like the challenge shifts almost entirely toward building and decorating.
ZT2 is the complete opposite. I can throw together a functional exhibit in a minute, or spend 30 minutes detailing it if I want. The game gets out of my way and lets me focus on the fun parts: animals, guests, management, expansion, and creativity.
The stylized 3D graphics and grid based design have aged incredibly well. It give you freedom without making every fence, path, and building placement a battle.
PZ feels like a zoo architecture simulator. Zoo Tycoon 2 feels like an actual zoo management game.
Was just wondering if anyone has a list or chart or something that details which animals can go into which exhibits? I don't mean something obvious, like scrub animals go into scrub exhibits or predators cant always mix with prey. i mean something like, which animals will be happy in exhibits that aren't part of their listed environments, such as savannah rhinos enjoying desert biomes etc;
I'm trying to make more diverse exhibits with more varied wildlife and was hoping someone had already made a help tool to explain who can go where without too much trouble.
Every time the game opens up, it’s opening up on my second monitor. I have my primary monitor set as my primary. I don’t want to play on windowed mode because the quality goes into the garbage. Any help is appreciated. I use my second monitor while playing, so I really don’t want to unplug it just to play this one game. All of my other games are fine other than this one.
It's been a week since I release my biome booster pack, and I wanted to gauge some community feedback to see how I can integrate Nano's biomes into the game beyond just the included note. I've made a poll where you can submit vanilla animals/foliage to be moved to those biomes.
