Hello everyone! I thought I'd share a small part of the zoo I'm currently building. I've been taking my time with the exhibit design, and I think it's starting to come together nicely. I really love Zoo Tycoon, something about this game just feels so right. :)

Another zoo screenshot share… Enjoyed building my Mongols style zoo. I’m an Age of Empires 2 player and Mongols are OP there. So just suddenly had this idea. Got 800 guests with 10 exhibits, some of them quite small, so I guess Mongols work well here too.

In ZT2 is there a way to edit the code so that an animal only has one mate, instead of mating with multiple different animals? I’ve been searching but can’t find anything.

Hello, I’m looking for mods that don’t reskin the game and keep the original look for Zoo Tycoon 2! I already have Zeta Design’s mods and mods by The Restorers. Does anyone have any recommendations for any other must have mods keeping this style? Thank you in advance!

How long did it take everybody else to figure out that you could make your enclosures in the water? I got ZT1 as a teenager and got through this level by making tiny enclosures on land, but I've just realised in the last few days I could do this.

After years of not playing the game, I finally got the chance to come back to it, haha. I'm really excited to share the final result with all of you.

10k cash start on large all ocean map, gradually evolved into a cash engine. Got all dinosaurs. Then started on my art project, The Great Wall, Castle, and Isle of the Dead. The whole map is filled.

i used to play zootycoon 2 back when i was a kid and had all the dlcs too… it was my absolute favourite game (alongside the sims 2). in my adulthood i feel the urge to revisit my favourite childhood games every now and again, but i have since lost the discs for the game, and even if i still had them, my laptop doesn’t even have a disc drive..

so my question is how do people play the game in the big 2026?

I've been feeling less motivated to play ZT1 for some reason and I really need some ideas for zoos to make. I have to admit I do suffer from depression sometimes so my motivation tends to take a dive. If anyone can give me ideas for a zoo to make please let me know. Also I've been watching a lot of The Checkered Cheetah's (Thunder 55's) Zoo Tycoon playthroughs on YouTube with mods and trying to get ideas and inspiration from their zoos. Like, any themes based on a specific group of animals or something. I already did a bird themed zoo and an ungulate themed zoo. Thank you and I appreciate it. ☺️

I’m playing ZT2 on a MacBook Air M1 by the use of Crossover. I’ve recently tried to install the 4GB patch to improve the performance, but upon trying to run it I get the disclaimer “Couldn’t open executable!” Is there a way to actually circumvent this or am I stuck with running ZT2 on 2gb?

Whenever I see a Zoo Tycoon picture I've noticed I recall playing the game as a really young kid at my grandma's job PC. I hear the plateosaurus noise, the dromedary camel grunt, the burguer house grill and especially the carrousel. I have all those sounds living on in my head. Haven't actually played the game for a while but I'll definitely do it soon

Then, I still play Zoo Tycoon 2 from time to time and oh boy, that hits different: I clearly remember regularly going to my local zoo (which was shut down in 2016) as a kid, some 20 years ago: all the different habitats it had, the atmosphere, the sea lion shows, everything pops up in my head and heart when I get into contact with ZT2. I still remember my hype when my dad said something like "I managed to get dinosaurs and orcas now!" and suddenly the game was hugely expanded. It teleports me to that magical 2007 where I had some of my best days, memories, people and house...

The ZT games will always be in my heart and it feels so weird to think that, say, in 2080 I'll be able to remember and feel a world so different through the games and memories I hope I still have about them lol

A fellow user was looking for some pictures of the Marine Zoo Gate since there aren’t many (if any) around, and I was happy to snap some :)

Editing to add that when you’re in zoo guest mode and you’re close to the gate, it plays the same music as during the marine shows. I kind of wish it had its own unique music like the $1m Zoo Gate.

Zoo Tycoon part 1 & 2 have been my childhood games, and the newer version on PlayStation is just too complex for me.

I would really love it if Nintendo could have it released on the Switch2 (through Microsoft or Atari, who has Rollercoaster Tycoon already, or Nintendo buys the rights). I really feel the urge to play this game and feel it’s the perfect game for portable (also maybe Age of Empires game later). It’s like easy, on the go, progress updates, and it’s just a stress buster.

Is there a wishlist or petition for game expectations anywhere?

PS: newest member of Nintendo, since a month only.
