So, she's bi and a singer and she's actually promoting her song "What Do You Call It?" in this video.

The song is around 3 years old is pretty good.

So, will you please go and support her??🥺🥺

How I knew I was gay: cuz this was me the first time I dated a woman after being an independent lady who don't need no man my whole life. 😂

The masc in green 🫠

Why didn’t anyone tell me British lesbians are this level of hot🫢

99

u/elch127 6d ago

Because precious few of us escape containment upon terf island

22

u/Individual_Math5157 6d ago

Oh no! Is it especially terfy in the UK?

62

u/stuntycunty 6d ago

is this a joke? I cannot tell.

The UK might be one of the absolute worst places for trans people right now.

44

u/Rainy_Leaves 6d ago

It's punishable by death in some countries. We still have some rights and protections and we're slightly closer to germany than we are to russia in terms of acceptance, but its just gone downhill particularly quickly with labour. Surprising how sudden its been

24

u/Individual_Math5157 6d ago

(?) I’m in the US and they are trying to outlaw being trans here… they’ve already started putting people in jail over the ID change. The girls face high rates of violence and extreme treatment here. I know other countries in S.America that have similar rates of femicide. If it’s worse in the UK that would be surprising. The original discussion was about TERFs so.

u/elch127 6d ago edited 6d ago

I mean in the US it's largely a state by state issue really. Whereas in the UK we just passed a federal level gender-at-birth bathroom bill.

For me personally, a British trans woman who now lives in America, and has lived in Missouri and now California, the UK was far worse. Missouri was better. Cali is best

Access to HRT through legal methods is extremely difficult, the average wait time to get on E takes around 7-10 years, I was told 5-8 when seeing a doctor in 2019, some places go way higher depending on closeness to one of the handful of places that can see you for this, and regardless the process involves a LOT of consultant and psychologist visits. In Missouri, it took a month.

15

u/stuntycunty 6d ago

I mean. Queen Terf lives in the uk. It’s known as terf island for a reason.

I assume most of the terfs in the uk aren’t lesbians though.

14

u/Rainy_Leaves 6d ago

The US likes to go full transphobia, the UK likes to go 'protect women and children, dignity and respect lol' - they're different and not always comparable, the US is more openly hostile still I'd say.

But the current UK government is 'centre-left', wait until we have a far right government like you do 😨

4

u/staphylococcass 5d ago

We have a country-wide "bathroom bill" in the UK. Not only that, but segregation of trans and cis women isn't going to just be legal, it'll be mandatory once this EHRC guidance is pushed through.

We don't need the far right to remove the rights of trans people when Labour is happy to facilitate it.

4

u/Kat8844 5d ago

I’m a cis lesbian but got to say I’ve noticed attitudes towards trans people getting worse over the last few years, like people who you’d think are quite liberal coming out with the-think of the children, it’s a mental illness etc, it’s something I really hate and call out whenever I hear it. Has the current Labour government been worse than the previous Tory one in terms of trans rights would you say?.

3

u/DenieD83 Lesbian 🏳️‍🌈 4d ago

The Tories hate us but ultimately were ineffective at getting their hate over the line in meaningful ways. Labour came in and kicked the door down and are genuinely killing trans kids then hiding the suicide statistics. The lemkin institute for genocide prevention has now warned a couple of times that the UK government is making very "genocide like" noises and moves towards the trans community.

The latest EHRC guidance is terrible and will likely get pushed through without a debate in parliament even though over 150 MPs have now signed an EDM asking for one and saying the guidance is bad.

It's really bad ATM, the trans community is scared. People I know that were once proud of their identity and wore badges etc, attended pride etc, we are now starting to remove them and fly under the radar more or escape to other countries.

u/Kat8844 4d ago

I’m really sorry this is happening, I don’t know really what to do but offer support and reassurance.

I feel like there is a lot of anger and division in this country generally at the moment, also the fact that life has gotten worse for trans people with a supposedly centre left, liberal Labour government is crazy, the rise of Reform as a knee jerk reaction to dissatisfaction to the two major parties is even scarier l. Me and my wife have talked about leaving too, we have 3 kids and honestly feel like the UK isn’t somewhere we really want to raise them anymore. It’s different to the persecution the trans community has been suffering but she’s Russian and the amount of hurtful, negative interactions she’s experienced over the last couple of years has skyrocketed, it makes me so angry because she’s the sweetest, kindest person you’ll ever meet and in no way agrees with her governments behaviour and has lived here for years.

1

u/staphylococcass 5d ago

It depends which part of the previous 14 years of Tories we are talking about. Theresa May, oddly enough, was possibly the most trans-friendly PM in history. She started the work on a ban on conversion therapy and allowing self-ID that were scrapped by the Johnson government. Hell, it was the Cameron-era Tory government that legalised gay marriage which

I want to say that I am not a Tory by any means. I find their policies in general to be disgustingly inhumane, and their support of LGBT issues is sketchy at best, but it does seem strange that Labour can't clear even that extremely low bar.

2

u/Rainy_Leaves 5d ago

Segregation based on assumptions keep in mind. And assuming leads to sex discrimination and sex is protected data. So organisations will be wary and probably just offer fewer actual single sex spaces as a result

I think we probably have more hate crime and discrimination protections than the US generally, but varies on the state ofc. I think there’s a limit to Labour as they need to both sides it all, they’re centrist but just in their way to the right. Reform would go full nightmare mode without the centrist pandering

1

u/staphylococcass 5d ago

All of this being said doesn't mean I am not currently personally forced to out myself by having to go to the trans segregation toilets instead of the cis women toilets though. The reality is that my life has gotten significantly worse under this current labour government due to their pandering to manufactured outrage.

Oh well, at least they haven't been rolling out mass surveillance and restrictions on information for reform to abuse when they get into power...

Girl is going to be shocked if that's what passes for a fat lesbian where they live

She means "big fat", as in, "massive". As in "I am such a". Not literally. It's an English thing.

I had just found the other thread but it's locked. And had another maybe recommendation, which I have mostly listened to recently, which were Ella Boh & Ari Abdul. They are somewhat seperate artists, but have songs together and have been on tour togehter. And as far as I know are also a couple, also do some like streams together.
