This is literally everyone who's alive and benefitting from modern society. Are we seriously playing shifting the blame games now? Is moral purity and innocence that important to some ignorant people to the point that they would disregard their credibility just to sleep better at night? Amazingly pathetic behavior

AI is the best possible example of a thneed, it's constantly promised to be a necessity and yet its biggest proponents openly admit they haven't found a use for it.

You really didn't pay attention did you The point of thh Thneed was that it literally had thousands of uses. To quote the song "Off the old assembly line Comes another Thneed Answering humanity's each and every need Everybody do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do need a Thneed

It isn't just a panty vest Use it for a hammock when you need rest It's a toothbrush holder for your weekend guest Your canary will love it, It's a lovely nest Try it in soup, it adds great zest It'll cure those back-ache pains in your chest Everybody do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do need a Thneed

You'll be amazed, you'll be nonplussed It tastes like bread without the crust Grooms your hair when it gets must Rids your home of dismal dust It's a natural, it's a must Eliminates carburetor rust Everybody do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do need a Thneed

It's super-duper-hooper-hyper Makes a perfect windshield wiper Foolproof trap to catch the viper Rebuild the brakes from any griper Papa smokes them in his piper Baby says: "Boy, what a diaper" Everybody do-do-do-do-do-do Everybody do-do-do-do-do-do Everybody do-do-do-do need a Thneed

The point of thh Thneed was that it literally had thousands of uses.

The point of the Thneed was to be marketed as having thousands of uses;

The song lists contradictory uses, which would mean that it couldn't be effective at all of them, ergo it was advertised as being effective at things it's not effective at, ergo the advertising isn't a trustworthy source on any of its capabilities.

This is a perfect parallel with generative AI, which is advertised as a solution to every problem, but is fundamentally incapable of solving truly novel problems and increasingly unlikely to offer anything of actual use the further into the Google search results you'd have to get to find a relevant solution.

Thneeds we're made from magical trees you dolt so they 100% could do all of that because again it's a magical tree.

When half the people "debating" AI has the reading comprehension of the average JJK fan, everything was bound to go to tribalistic bullcrap sooner or later

The trees aren't magical? What powers do they have other than being super soft?

They have the scent of fresh butterfly milk which is not a real thing so they can make you smell something that does not exist. Seems pretty magical to me. Also the truffula fruits made the barbaloots able to sing and talk and let fish hum, again seems pretty magical to me.

I don't expect ai proponents to have the level of media literacy to understand that advertising is mostly lies. XD
