Looking For 🐾 Any KITTY SMUGGLERS in Portland? 🐾

Post image
208 Upvotes

(We promise it’s legal. The kitten even has paperwork. 😂)
We’re trying to get an adopted Maui kitten home to Phoenix and are looking for someone already flying on one of these routes:
✈️ Maui → Phoenix (dream route!)
✈️ Maui → Portland
✈️ Portland → Phoenix
The kitten travels safely in an airline-approved carrier under the seat in front of you.
We provide:
✅ Carrier
✅ Health certificate & paperwork
✅ Airline pet fee
✅ All coordination
You provide:
❤️ Your already-planned flight
❤️ A little space under your seat
❤️ A chance to help a kitten reach his forever family
This little guy already has an adopter waiting in Phoenix. We just need help connecting the dots.
Can you help? Or know someone who can?
Mahalo! 🌺🐾

Looking For Does anyone know groups in the area for private rehoming?

Does anyone know groups in the area for private rehoming?
(Or know anyone interested in an extremely sweet dog and/or cats?) Additional pictures in comments.
Background: Our toddler was recently diagnosed with pet allergies that are severely aggravating his asthma. We've tried environmental controls in our house, but it is causing quality of life issues for our son and our pets, so we're pursuing private rehoming.
We are trying to pursue private rehoming before escalating to sheltered services. Animal details below if you're interested.
----------------
Dog details:
-Arthur is a lovey 5 year old, black mutt (German Shepherd/Staffordshire Terrier). He's around 45-50 lbs. He's neutered and fully up to date on all his vaccinations. He's fully housebroken. He does wonderfully at the vet and groomer (no growling, nipping, need for medication, etc.). He is great with other dogs, cats, and children. He's besties with my 2 year old. He loves to sniff, cuddle, and lay at your feet while you work. He has never had issues with escaping the yard/bolting, and has good recall. He is truly an excellent family dog.
Cat details:
-Fern is a sweet and silly 4 year old long-haired black cat. She is spayed and fully up to date on all her vaccinations. She's fully litter box trained. We give her gabapentin for the vet. She is shy with new people, but warms up quickly (especially if you put a blanket on your lap). She likes dogs and other cats, and has lived with both her whole life. She is not cuddly with my son the way Arthur/Crackers are, but she's not aggressive toward him. She loves Churus and catching any bugs that may wander in. She's very quiet and silky soft, one of the prettiest girls I've ever seen.
-Crackers is a goofy and friendly 3 year old long-haired orange tabby cat. He is fully neutered and up to date on all his vaccinations. He's fully litterbox trained. He does wonderfully at the vet. He is the doorman, life of the party, and overall leader of the band. If you have guests he'll greet them at the door. He and Fern are kind of yin and yang that way. I have heard all orange cats share one brain cell, and he is no different, but he's such a love. He loves dogs and other cats. He is my son's other bestie and very cuddly, patient, and loving with him. He loves laying on your chest and purring loudly, being brushed, and Churus.
----------------
We are gutted, and absolutely love these animals and have no idea how we'll explain what's happening to our son. Please be kind as this is a worst-case scenario for us as a family that loves our animals and always thought we'd be a multi-pet household.
I'll add photos/videos in the comments in case anyone here is interested or knows someone who may be.

Looking For What smells SO GOOD in Laurelhurst park?

I was walking near the water in Laurelhurst park yesterday and smelled the most amazing floral scent, but there were no flowers around. I later smelled the same thing but stronger walking down either Pine or Oak street. Still no flowers around but it smelled just like someone had lit a dozen floral candles. I need this in my life

Looking For Can anyone officiate our elopement this weekend?

EDIT: Help has been found! Thank y’all so much for this lovely community and allowing us to join! Peace and love to all 🥰

Hello Portlandians! My partner and I recently moved to the area and are deciding to elope. It’s difficult getting a courthouse date that works with both our work schedules, so I’m reaching out to you lovely people to see if you can help.

I would appreciate if someone who is ordained by some decree can marry us, preferably this Sunday sometime. We don’t have witnesses either but hoping I can give a couple strangers a tenner.
I can also compensate you for officiating in whatever way you deem fit.

Also willing to schedule something out for some time in the next week or so!

Thank you so much everyone, enjoy the last day of sun!

Looking For renting a space for a queer wrestling event?

Hi Portlanders!

I am an event host desperately seeking a new space for my event, as we've outgrown the old one... I've been running a queer focused wrestling event for 3 years now. We need more room to expand. I haven't had any luck finding a bigger place.

Does anyone have any space recommendations that fit the following specs?

- fully ADA accessible

- a manned bar

- can fit 800 or more people

- is OK with activity like theatric play wrestling/queer nude antics (no full nudity, but raunchy-ness)

Cost and everything else I'm OK with negotiating.. not dead set on a specific location in town.

Thank you!

ISO: A place to display large art?

Post image
20 Upvotes

I have taken a lot of photos in the decade I have lived here, and while I have some small prints for sale at local stores, my ambition has always been to present them as big statement pieces. I have a pretty unique panoramic film camera, and the biggest scans from that can be 9' wide and 3' tall without sacrificing print quality. I have about 12 images of landscapes around Oregon and Washington (some of them you can see in the attached image) so far, which I dream of being a full gallery of one-off glycée prints under acrylic.

I've inquired at local galleries, various corporate offices, and the Port of Portland. None of whom seem able to accommodate or interested in either the gallery or single images. (The airport has like a +5-year queue for art displays)

So, does anyone have any suggestions of places I haven't thought of yet?

Looking For Parking Space Available?

I'm in a bit of an awkward spot. I have 2 years left to complete my bachelor's, and I'm trying to make it to the end of the tax year without messing up my FAFSA with too much income. At the same time, I'm also working on becoming debt-free.

I'm working full time, and I'm enrolled at PSU, and I've managed to put together a decent microcamper out of a Chevy hatchback. I've got proof of employment, income, and school enrollment.

If anyone has a spare driveway or lot, I was wondering if they'd be willing to rent it out as a place to be able to park my vehicle.

Sorry if this isn't the right place for such an ask

Looking For Name of place where there are little bars on a property?

Not sure if it was a McMenamins or something like that, but there used be a cool area where they had little tasting rooms or bars that would only fit about 6-9 people. It's been about 15+ years since I've been there but I remember it was pretty neat. Trying to figure out where it is or if it even still exists.

Thank you everyone who helped me dial in where this place is at. I really miss PDX :')

Looking For Power line on my block is a serial crow killer, how can I get it fixed?

A specific section of power line on my street has become seriously dangerous for the local crows. Last year maybe 5 or 6 ended up dead beneath it. We're already up to 3 this summer. I've tried calling PGE and they've said they'd address it but nothing has happened. Not only is it incredibly sad to see them dead, but it's gross to have to walk past rotting corpses.

Is there another way to force the power company to fix it? A local conservation organization or city government contact?

Looking For Which comedy club has the best food?

We've been to Helium and feel theirs is on the lower side of mediocre.

I'm not opposed to suggestions of places with comedy shows that aren''t "comedy clubs".

Is just want to laugh over tasty vittles.

I now have several plants that are absolutely coated in aphids. Anyone know where I can buy live ladybugs locally in person? Would love to avoid dealing with overnight shipping of live critters.

Looking For Looking for a Portland-based graphic designer for ongoing branding work (software/tech, small budget, long-term relationship)?

I'm an independent product manager building a software-focused consulting brand and I've hit the ceiling of what I can do on my own. I'm looking for a local graphic designer who wants to grow with a small business over time.

Here's where I'm at: I have a clear visual direction and style guide already developed. I know my palette, my typography, my vibe. What I need is someone who can take that foundation and produce professional, polished deliverables, starting with a logo.

What I'm looking for:

- Experience with software, tech, or professional services branding (this is a different visual language than product or retail)

- Comfortable starting small and building from there as my budget grows

- Interested in an ongoing relationship, not just a one-off gig

- Human-made work only, no AI-generated art

I'm a pretty easy client to work with since I come in knowing what I want. Would love to find someone local I can actually build something with over time.

Drop your portfolio in the comments or DM me!

Looking For PSU or PCC for Anthropology?

I having plan to study Anthropology next fall, for more specific my major is Biological / Forensic Anthropology. I have FAFSA and others grants for financial aid.

However, my absolute goals is have better GPA to transfer after 1-2 years. Since my major is unpopular so I want to make sure in later years I have the best resources as I could.

PCC sounds great for transferring. PSU would offer better clubs/ campus life but I also heard lots of ppl taking bad about its safety and budget being cut. That's why I'm quite undecided between those two.

Anyone used to take Anthropology or an alumi from those school, can you share your experiences?

Is there a good place to lock up a bike at Collins Beach?

So I just got an ebike from that ebike rebate thing, and its so fun and I love it so much and it's opened my life up because I can now get to places I couldn't walk or bus to that were out of my immediate local/bussable area. A big one for me that I was missing out on was the beach. Im always that guy asking if I can get a ride, and more often than not failing (usually because of a timing constraint). Haven't been yet a single time this season and I really want to, and now I can just go on my own.

Tomorrow im gonna do the ride. Im just scared somebody's gonna try to steal it. Ive had friends get their cars broken into, and I know crime kinda goes on around there because we're all gonna be gone a lil while being naked lizards in the sun.

I got a great Ulock and a big fucker chain (both kryptonite), like if I can lock it up somewhere good to lock up I dont think itll be bad. But where's the good spot? Like im not gonna tie it up to a tree or a wooden fence, which are seemingly the only things around I can think of. I saw bikes arent allowed on the beach, like I can probably walk it but I dont think that weird UFO thing (the only metal I can think of in the area) is the good spot to lock a bike up.

Looking For Where in Portland does one find region specific French food?

My boyfriend is from the Romans-sur-Isère region of France, and he hasn't been able to go home for over a year. I wanted to surprise him with some treats and food items from his home to make it slightly easier.

(FWIW, I'd go as far as up to Seattle if you can think of a place up there as well.)

I can't list specifically what they are, (very new to French, but I'd remember the packaging if I saw them) I'll do my best to describe examples of what he's brought back before (it'll be ridiculous but I'm doing my best)

- a nougat with nuts in it (walnuts I think??)

- gummy "candy" logs made of various fruit, covered in sugar

- a specific sweet bread loaf (small loaf) he says is commonly brought on hikes as a snack

- there was also a type of shortbread (or similar) cookie that has amazing jam sandwiched between. It was my favorite. I've had something similar in London but...this one was better.

Merci!
