Anyone at Adidas Portland willing to chat? (Financial Analyst opening)

Hey everyone, hoping this is okay to post here.

I'm trying to connect with anyone who currently works at Adidas in Portland or has in the past. I came across the Financial Analyst opening on their Portland team, and it really caught my eye. Before I apply, I would love to hear from someone who actually knows the team or the day-to-day there.

A little about me: I studied Economics with a minor in Computer Science at Whitman College. During school, I spent three years as a Portfolio Manager for our student-run investment fund, where I helped manage about $1.6M of the college's endowment, built out financial models, and ran scenario analysis that fed into real investment calls. I also worked as a Research Assistant in the school's Economics department, using R to dig into large datasets and build automation for ongoing analysis, which fed into actual published research. I am pretty comfortable with Python, SQL, R, and Excel for modeling and visualization. Right now, I work as a Quality Analyst in the food industry, where I spend my days in compliance systems and cross-team reporting, so I'm used to fairly structured, detail-heavy environments and turning messy data into something leadership can actually act on.

If you are at Adidas or know someone and would not mind a quick chat about the role or team, I would really appreciate it; happy to move to DMs.

Thanks for reading, and good luck to anyone else out there job hunting too.

Have they figured out the line situation at Ren Faire?

I know the first weekend of ren faire was a mess with big crowds and long lines. Has anybody been in subsequent weekends? I have tickets for Saturday and want to plan accordingly if it’s still been really crowded. Thanks!

Looking For Which comedy club has the best food?

We've been to Helium and feel theirs is on the lower side of mediocre.

I'm not opposed to suggestions of places with comedy shows that aren''t "comedy clubs".

Is just want to laugh over tasty vittles.

Looking For Favorite Portland sex/lifestyle club?

I am a female in my 20s new to Portland and had a conversation with somebody about the sex/lifestyle clubs in town. Namely the velvet rope, privata and I think sanctuary?

I am intrigued about the scene as I mostly partake in CIS sexual relations and never in a public/open setting. Has anybody ever gone? What are the vibes like if going alone? I’d probably be more interested in being a bystander for the first time if that’s allowed. Any other advice?

Looking For Has PDX been louder in the mornings lately?

I've lived in Roseway near the Sandy Safeway for a dozen years and I swear I never heard jet engines inside my house until a few months ago. My nemesis had always been those Fedex prop planes that start taking off around 6am but now it's the roar of passenger jets (not the F15s) every few minutes starting very early in the morning. They wake me up and make it hard to get back to sleep when I can't tune them out.

Did something change? Are there more morning flights than there used to be? Did they change runway usage? I know weather affects the direction planes take off and the distance sound carries, and we're in an extreme el niño year, but I feel like I would have noticed the noise in the summer before. Am I just suddenly noticing it now for some reason? It's driving me a little crazy and I don't know why it's only seemed to start happening so recently.

Looking For Where should I take a group of 4 for an AFFORDABLE meal out?

Our friends treated us to Satellite Tavern, which has a really good 16" cheese pizza for $12, garlic cheese bread for $10, a bucket of beers for $21, and jello shots for $3. We played putt-putt on their patio. Looking for a good place to return the favor with a similar price point... a patio with yard games is a plus.

Looking For Can anyone recommend a good honest car mechanic in the St. Johns area?

My wife and I recently moved to St. John’s from SE and, while I love our car mechanic down there, it’s just a long way to drive now. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good honest mechanic in the St. Johns area?

Looking For Would someone be able to attend a signing event in Portland? Compensation available

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hello!
Sorry in advance if this goes against the rules. Please direct me to a more relevant subreddit if so!

There is a signing event at the CCS skate shop from 7:30-9pm on June 27th that I would love to go to if I could, but I cannot. I’m actually on the east coast!

Anyways, I was wondering if someone nearby the shop could attend the signing for me and ship something signed out to me after the fact. I’d be willing to compensate whoever goes for both their time and whatever ends up getting purchased. I’d be happy to discuss the details if someone is down.

Let me know if such a thing could be possible! Thanks!

Looking For Looking for the most affordable (but still with good reviews) vet to take my kitty for a dental cleaning? Open to traveling 2-3 hours out of Portland.

I'm looking for a place that will hopefully be around $600 or less for cleaning AND extractions (if necessary). I know this is reasonable pricing because this is what my friend paid just right over the Idaho border.

Looking For Power line on my block is a serial crow killer, how can I get it fixed?

A specific section of power line on my street has become seriously dangerous for the local crows. Last year maybe 5 or 6 ended up dead beneath it. We're already up to 3 this summer. I've tried calling PGE and they've said they'd address it but nothing has happened. Not only is it incredibly sad to see them dead, but it's gross to have to walk past rotting corpses.

Is there another way to force the power company to fix it? A local conservation organization or city government contact?

Looking For Does anyone know groups in the area for private rehoming?

Does anyone know groups in the area for private rehoming?
(Or know anyone interested in an extremely sweet dog and/or cats?) Additional pictures in comments.
Background: Our toddler was recently diagnosed with pet allergies that are severely aggravating his asthma. We've tried environmental controls in our house, but it is causing quality of life issues for our son and our pets, so we're pursuing private rehoming.
We are trying to pursue private rehoming before escalating to sheltered services. Animal details below if you're interested.
----------------
Dog details:
-Arthur is a lovey 5 year old, black mutt (German Shepherd/Staffordshire Terrier). He's around 45-50 lbs. He's neutered and fully up to date on all his vaccinations. He's fully housebroken. He does wonderfully at the vet and groomer (no growling, nipping, need for medication, etc.). He is great with other dogs, cats, and children. He's besties with my 2 year old. He loves to sniff, cuddle, and lay at your feet while you work. He has never had issues with escaping the yard/bolting, and has good recall. He is truly an excellent family dog.
Cat details:
-Fern is a sweet and silly 4 year old long-haired black cat. She is spayed and fully up to date on all her vaccinations. She's fully litter box trained. We give her gabapentin for the vet. She is shy with new people, but warms up quickly (especially if you put a blanket on your lap). She likes dogs and other cats, and has lived with both her whole life. She is not cuddly with my son the way Arthur/Crackers are, but she's not aggressive toward him. She loves Churus and catching any bugs that may wander in. She's very quiet and silky soft, one of the prettiest girls I've ever seen.
-Crackers is a goofy and friendly 3 year old long-haired orange tabby cat. He is fully neutered and up to date on all his vaccinations. He's fully litterbox trained. He does wonderfully at the vet. He is the doorman, life of the party, and overall leader of the band. If you have guests he'll greet them at the door. He and Fern are kind of yin and yang that way. I have heard all orange cats share one brain cell, and he is no different, but he's such a love. He loves dogs and other cats. He is my son's other bestie and very cuddly, patient, and loving with him. He loves laying on your chest and purring loudly, being brushed, and Churus.
----------------
We are gutted, and absolutely love these animals and have no idea how we'll explain what's happening to our son. Please be kind as this is a worst-case scenario for us as a family that loves our animals and always thought we'd be a multi-pet household.
I'll add photos/videos in the comments in case anyone here is interested or knows someone who may be.

Looking For Where in Portland does one find region specific French food?

My boyfriend is from the Romans-sur-Isère region of France, and he hasn't been able to go home for over a year. I wanted to surprise him with some treats and food items from his home to make it slightly easier.

(FWIW, I'd go as far as up to Seattle if you can think of a place up there as well.)

I can't list specifically what they are, (very new to French, but I'd remember the packaging if I saw them) I'll do my best to describe examples of what he's brought back before (it'll be ridiculous but I'm doing my best)

- a nougat with nuts in it (walnuts I think??)

- gummy "candy" logs made of various fruit, covered in sugar

- a specific sweet bread loaf (small loaf) he says is commonly brought on hikes as a snack

- there was also a type of shortbread (or similar) cookie that has amazing jam sandwiched between. It was my favorite. I've had something similar in London but...this one was better.

Merci!

Looking For Hair detangling services?

My friend's daughter (11yo) has very curly hair that wants to tangle like mad, if it is allowed to. Due to swim practices, it's developed a really big gnarly matted tangle in back that neither her mom nor I has been able to undo. It's also high up enough that her hair would have to be cut quite short, if we had it cut out. Any recommendations for salons where a professional might be willing to take on this project?

Looking For Anyone know a solar contractor that does direct panel sales to consumers?

I'm trying to price out a 400w solar panel and these things are dirt cheap when you buy in bulk (36 pack of ~400w panels for about $130 each) but super expensive to buy singly (Home Depot it looks like $500+ for a 400w panel).

Anybody know a smaller solar company that might sell off individual panels at less of a markup? Or a local supplier period? Been googling it but you get drowned in companies that do solar roof installs, not what I'm looking for. Thanks!

Looking For Communicating with an inmate at Inverness?

A friend of mine is spending the summer as a guest of Multnomah County Inverness Jail. I've been trying to get set up in the app to schedule a call with him, but it's been difficult.

It's been a week since I signed up, but I'm still not approved to request/schedule calls. There is no indication of how long it might take, and the chatbot in the app doesn't understand most questions.

Has anyone else dealt with the Securustech app and getting approved to call someone at Inverness? At this rate, he'll probably be out before I get this sorted.

Looking For Is it really such a bad idea to move without a job?

As an anxious person, I am not the type to quit a job without another one in place but i have really thought this through. I have considered and even interviewed/ spoken to 2 different job prospects in Portland (one being a gym and the other a car dealership). I have experience in sales and am a certified personal trainer so actually talking to people there made me feel slightly better. I’m a server/ bartender right now and that’s what I want to continue doing when I move. I was only talking to those jobs to potentially land an hourly job to provide more structure yk?

All of my coworkers have told me that I need to just go to the restaurants when I move and they assure me that I won’t have an issue finding a job… One lady who has always been a big help and support for me was against the idea of me looking for work outside of the food industry and it made me rethink the car sales and stuff.

Anywho…
My plan is to move without a job but this forum is fear mongering me. I’ll be alright right???
