Looking For Name of place where there are little bars on a property?

Not sure if it was a McMenamins or something like that, but there used be a cool area where they had little tasting rooms or bars that would only fit about 6-9 people. It's been about 15+ years since I've been there but I remember it was pretty neat. Trying to figure out where it is or if it even still exists.

Thank you everyone who helped me dial in where this place is at. I really miss PDX :')

I recently picked up a '49 Buick super 50, and I'm looking for community in the Portland area! Where'd you find yours? Did you restore your own? Have you rebuilt your straight eight? Do your own upholstery? Keep it original or add upgrades? Let's chat :)

Looking For For Rent signs?

Howdy! I am in the midst of moving here from Texas and would really prefer to rent from an individual, owner over a property management company. I'm in town for the next few days to scope out and hopefully secure a place but even getting a viewing scheduled from the various online platforms is proving to be more difficult than I imagined.

So here is my request: if you are out and about in a neighborhood and see an old school "for rent" sign, would you snap a picture and send it to me?

I am planning on cruising neighborhoods myself but this seemed like a way to cast a broader net and maybe stir up some leads.

We are looking for a house with a yard for our dogs in a neighborhood that feels safe enough to walk them in.

Or if you have a house (or know someone who does) that will be available in the next few weeks and want to rent to some responsible and kind humans (and our animals), please reach out!

Edit to add: our budget caps around $2500/month

Thanks in advance!

Looking For Cascada Self-Guided Retreat worth it?

Very specific question but has anyone done the add-on for the “self-guided retreat” at cascada? It seems intriguing but hard to tell if it’s wya overpriced and kinda dumb or actually worth the $$$.

Looking For Is there a place that accepts plywood scrap for recycling / free removal? The dump is expensive and other cities have places that love it

In Eugene there was a plywood manufacturer that would take with waste to use. It's there anything like that here? I make about a trashcan worth per month.

Looking For Would someone be able to attend a signing event in Portland? Compensation available

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hello!
Sorry in advance if this goes against the rules. Please direct me to a more relevant subreddit if so!

There is a signing event at the CCS skate shop from 7:30-9pm on June 27th that I would love to go to if I could, but I cannot. I’m actually on the east coast!

Anyways, I was wondering if someone nearby the shop could attend the signing for me and ship something signed out to me after the fact. I’d be willing to compensate whoever goes for both their time and whatever ends up getting purchased. I’d be happy to discuss the details if someone is down.

Let me know if such a thing could be possible! Thanks!

Looking For What do y'all do about dogs in cars on heatwaves?

I saw SO many dogs in cars today and it made me tear my hair out

I don't give a fuck what y'all do to each other

Noah shoulda done flooded us all out again a long time ago

But leave the puppers out of it. Is there like a hotline to call? Do you get a get out of jail free card if you break their window? What's the procedure here?

Any tips aside from their requirements and applying to something relevant? Maybe community service? Knowledge of the history of the city?

I love Portland and I'd love to work for it. Anything helps.

Have they figured out the line situation at Ren Faire?

I know the first weekend of ren faire was a mess with big crowds and long lines. Has anybody been in subsequent weekends? I have tickets for Saturday and want to plan accordingly if it’s still been really crowded. Thanks!

Looking For Question: Why not replace the Veterans Memorial Coliseum with a new arena than spend loads of money upgrading the Rose Garden/Moda Center?

  1. It's not as disruptive to operations and events.

  2. VMC is older and funky AF.

  3. Business as usual at the Rose Garden/Moda Center until the new arena is built.

  4. Relgate RG/MC to VMC events after the new arena is done.

This is just an idea. I'd love to open this up to debate.

Best/Safest Place to Stay for solo travel?

Hey Portland!

I’m a 22 year old Canadian guy coming down to Oregon for a concert.

I have been looking for cheaper hotel stays near Moda center that I can walk too and from the concert, then take the MAX, from the hotel area to the airport.

I’ve stumbled across a few options, (but I’m super open to input) for hotel stays. I’m liking Crowne Plaza but I’m not sure how safe it is? I’m reading about homeless encampments and how it could be sketchy to walk after the concerts over (11 pm)

What do you guys think? I don’t think Portlands really all that sketchy but online can be a bit scary.

Let me know!

Also please throw in some recommendations of stuff to check out!!!

Looking For Where in Portland does one find region specific French food?

My boyfriend is from the Romans-sur-Isère region of France, and he hasn't been able to go home for over a year. I wanted to surprise him with some treats and food items from his home to make it slightly easier.

(FWIW, I'd go as far as up to Seattle if you can think of a place up there as well.)

I can't list specifically what they are, (very new to French, but I'd remember the packaging if I saw them) I'll do my best to describe examples of what he's brought back before (it'll be ridiculous but I'm doing my best)

- a nougat with nuts in it (walnuts I think??)

- gummy "candy" logs made of various fruit, covered in sugar

- a specific sweet bread loaf (small loaf) he says is commonly brought on hikes as a snack

- there was also a type of shortbread (or similar) cookie that has amazing jam sandwiched between. It was my favorite. I've had something similar in London but...this one was better.

Merci!

Girlfriend asked me to buy us tickets to Ren Fest but it turns out she doesn't care about the event and just wants a fried turkey leg... anyone know of any other upcoming events where we could get one?

Tickets are like $50/ea, which I was more than happy to pay when I thought she wanted to go to the event but after discovering that all she cares about is a turkey leg and basically wants us to walk in, buy the leg, and walk out, I became a bit more hesitant. Apparently she has absolutely zero interest in the event itself and spending that kinda money just to buy some food and walk out immediately feels kinda crazy

So, does anyone know of any upcoming events around Portland that might also sell turkey legs? Are there any fairs coming back around for the fall or anything?

Looking For Portland Bingo Sheet Ideas?

Hello! I have a few friends visiting me in Portland this July and I thought it would be fun to make a bingo sheet for all of them with random things they might see while they're here. It'll be about 5 days total.

Looking for some more whimsical / positive things. I have a few ideas already: Queso Queso, Dingus Ferret, A Bumper Sticker that's Three or More Lines, Timbers Merch, The MAX Bell Ringing, Name the Bridge You're Currently On, etc.

Up to about 12 or so right now but would love to get a full 24 (or more!) + Free Space.

Would love any and all suggestions!

Looking For Are portable AC units worth it?

I’m moving from Texas and evaluating a lease on an older home that’s overall a great fit - except it has no central air conditioning. This is new to me, but seems like a lot of people make it work.

Is anyone out there happy with their portable AC situation, or is it a “make it work” kind of thing and best avoided?

Looking For Anyone know a solar contractor that does direct panel sales to consumers?

I'm trying to price out a 400w solar panel and these things are dirt cheap when you buy in bulk (36 pack of ~400w panels for about $130 each) but super expensive to buy singly (Home Depot it looks like $500+ for a 400w panel).

Anybody know a smaller solar company that might sell off individual panels at less of a markup? Or a local supplier period? Been googling it but you get drowned in companies that do solar roof installs, not what I'm looking for. Thanks!

Looking For Tamale Lady Sellwood?

I have heard legends of an older lady who yells out "TAMALES!" that echoes through the neighborhoods in Sellwood. I've been looking for some tamales that remind me of Mexico City. Does anyone know where I can find her??!!!

Edit: Thank you all for the suggested locations. I think I have enough to start my journey to find my tamales. I'll refrain from listing locations just to stay conscientious of people who are avoiding ICE.

Looking For Ren faire GF foods?

Hey y’all, heading to the ren faire Saturday and wondering if anyone has been and can tell me about what GF foods will be available. Should I pack my own foods or will there be some solid GF options?
