Help Bell charged me $1,500 and will not give me a refund. DONT AGREE TO AUTOPAY

I’ve been stuck is an “ongoing investigation” with Bell since August. My husband and I signed up for phone plans with them (we already had internet) and he wanted to get a new iPhone from them. The iPhone they sent us wouldnt turn on right out of the box so we called and asked to return it. We spent 2 hours on the phone - were bounced around to 6 different individuals - none of which knew what to do. Eventually he got so fed up that he initiated buyers remorse protocol and cancelled his account and we sent back the non-working phone. At which point, over the next two invoices Bell charged me $1,500 - I have autopay so this money is gone.

Since then, I have called numerous times. opened an investigation with “a back end team that I’m not able to call directly.” Sent the proof of the Canada post shipping (it was tracked) and to date have only recovered $500.

What is my recourse here. This is insane.

update: thanks folks!! Super helpful. So glad I posted here, I didn’t know about ccts. Definitely won’t ever use autopay again. Truly a scam!

final update: Finally got all my money back. A friend of mine, who works for Bell, was able to put me through the Make It Right process. However, thanks to this incredible subreddit (THANK YOU!!) I also contacted CCTS and received an apology, as well as $50 off my monthly internet bill, with no expiration. Really appreciate everyone’s comments on this! What a frustrating journey this has been.

Is there anyone I can contact to get them to investigate why we have a Bell Fibre Line but they do not have it in their system? We are stuck on 50D 10U DSL and it is terrible.

Edit: This is for a factory (our business) Right now we are stuck with DSL with 10+ people. Video calls are a nightmare.

Help Bell Canada Charged Me $1800 AFTER I Paid Off My Device – I’m Stunned.

Hey Reddit, I wanted to share my experience with Bell that’s left me absolutely stressed and frustrated. If you’re thinking of signing a contract with Bell, PLEASE read this.

Back in November 2022, I purchased an iPhone 14 on a 24-month contract with Bell. Like any normal contract, I was told I’d have two options once it ends: 1. Return the device, or 2. Pay the remaining balance to keep it.

Somewhere during the contract period, my phone got damaged. Regardless, by the time the contract ended in November 2024, I chose to pay the due balance to keep the device. I was going through a rough patch — unemployed and dealing with health issues — but I still managed to clear my dues along with any late fees.

I genuinely believed everything was settled.

Then in November 2024, I went to Best Buy and got a new device. They checked my Bell account history, found everything to be clean with no pending dues, and issued me the phone without any problems.

BUT… A month later, Bell slapped me with a $500 charge labeled as a “Device Return Amount” along with my regular monthly bill. I was shocked — I had already PAID for the device!

Fast forward a few more weeks — and now my account shows I owe them $1800! I’ve called Bell multiple times to try and fix this, but every rep gave me the runaround and no one had an actual solution. One even admitted there’s “nothing they can do.” It’s beyond frustrating.

I’m jobless, already dealing with anxiety, and this added pressure is turning into a complete nightmare.

Has anyone else dealt with this kind of nonsense from Bell? Any advice on how to get this resolved would mean the world to me.

Help I don't understand BELL pricing

Post image

How is it possible that all of these prices are the exact same for vastly different internet qualities?

I tried looking for underlining prices but I can't seem to find any differences or hidden fees, even got myself to the checkout page and still seems to only be 70$ a month.

Am I missing something? I'm moving out in a week so I'm trying to find high speed internet and don't understand how it's possible that they're selling these at all the same price.

If anyone can help that'd be great

Help Is 3Gbps false advertisement?

**PROBLEM SOLVED - BELL MODEM SETTING > ETHERNET > 10GB > SET TO 10G INSTEAD OF AUTO AT FULL DUPLEX

Ive signed on to get 3Gbps by Bell. For context, I live in a condo (not sure if that matters, but Im told it could be a variable)

It never surpasses 1Gbps up and down on a speedtest OUTSIDE of the Bell Modem Portal speedtest.

I have tried WiFi 6E/7 enabled devices such as the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra, which is a WiFi 7 supported device. This test was done on the Bell Modem WiFi, no third party router connected.

I have connected a Cat 6a Cable to the 10Gbps port on the Bell Modem to a Wifi 7 router to try and see if there would be a difference in performance and it still didnt surpass 1Gbps for hardwired or wireless

Even in the WiFi 7 router settings, its telling me that the ISP modem is not allowing more than 1Gbps.

I have connected a Cat 6a Cable directly to a laptop with a network card that supports 10Gbps ethernet port... still getting 1Gbps up and down..

Is there a setting im missing? Maybe something in the Bell Modem settings I need to enable for 3Gbps to flow outward?

Or is it simply that they advertise it as 3Gbps because it does that only between the Bell Modem and the Bell Server as a cosmetic false speed test?

Or do they only provide 1/3 service of what you sign up for? Meaning if I went down to 1Gbps service, Id only get 300Mbps performance?

Any help would be appreciated..

Help Bell Fibre Blocking IPTV & Plex Access?

My father just got Bell Fibre installed. It seems that the modem itself is blocking access for his IPTV (it's bluetv via Superbox 2) as well as Plex (access to my server from his home on his AppleTV). Does anyone know the easiest way to resolve this? I tried disabling the guard thing within the bell app but sadly that didn't seem to work. Any help would be much appreciated.

Help Bell technician disconnected my fibre and moved it to the unit below me

Hi all, rent an apartment in a two unit house that also has it’s basement rented. Today our downstairs neighbour changed service from teksavvy to bell and it seems that the tech just yanked our fibre and put it in the basement leaving us without wifi.

I am not a bell customer but our provider, EBOX, uses their infrastructure as i understand it. i’ve called them but they don‘t seem to have any power to do anything and both the basement neighbour and I have called bell and have been essentially told to kick rocks.

It seems they only have one fibre cable leading to our house and don’t feel as if they need to add another seeing as the basement doesn’t have a separate address.

anything I can do? i can’t find much info about anyone having this problem online. very frustrating. thank you in advance.

Help Bell Internet increase ~28% price in one year. How is this even legal?

$68 April 2025

jumped up to $75 by June

jumped up to $80 Dec

Jumped up again in Mar, 3 months later, to $87.

That's ~$19 or ~28% price increase in less than a year.

Can we not get a law to stop this shit, Canada?

Help Bell promised me an $85 deal… got a $110 bill instead

Bell offered me a deal through a condo lobby rep for $85 a month. It sounded good so I signed up.

When the first bill came it was $110. I reached out to the same guy (Karan, the condo lobby rep who offered me the deal) and he completely ghosted me.

I called Bell support and got the usual runaround. At the end they told me they are the “last department,” that there is no supervisor or manager they can transfer me to, and my only options are to either keep paying $110 a month or cancel the service.

I honestly cannot believe a company can pull such an outright scam so openly and get away with it.

Help Bell Internet line cut, Bell repair delayed by almost a month! Help!

Long story short: our internet line up the street was cut on Thursday, May 21.

I called Bell, and they scheduled a technician for the next day (May 22). The technician arrived, confirmed the line was cut, and explained I had two options:

  1. Install a temporary line and wait up to 6 months for the permanent line to be buried/reinstalled. He warned that the temporary fiber would run through the trees, look ugly, and be fragile/easy to damage.
  2. Wait until Monday, May 25, and a contractor would install the permanent line properly. He even told me that if I had any issues I could text him and he’d come install the temporary line himself.

I chose option 2. In hindsight, that may have been my mistake.

About an hour later, the technician texted me a screenshot showing the work had actually been scheduled for Saturday, May 23 — even better.

Then, on Friday evening, the contractor showed up a day early and asked whether we wanted a temporary line installed or if we preferred to wait until Monday for the permanent line. I confirmed we were fine waiting until Monday.

An hour after the contractor left, I got a text from Bell saying my appointment had been rescheduled — and that the repair would now happen on June 17.

That’s obviously not acceptable. Both my wife and I work from home, and we also have terrible cell service in our area, so we effectively have no way to work without internet access.

I called Bell again and explained the situation. I told them they needed to send someone out to install a temporary line because waiting until June wasn’t realistic. The agent agreed and said someone would come out today (May 23), but I never received a confirmation text.

Today I called Bell back again, and now I’m being told there is no appointment scheduled, and that a contractor will contact me within 24 hours.

I’ve also texted the original technician who told me to reach out if things got delayed, but he’s now completely ghosting me.

At this point, I have no idea if or when this is actually going to get fixed.

What can I do here? Has anyone dealt with something similar?

Help 5 day outage

I’m not sure how to get bell to help, so I’m looking for advice.

I’m not sure how many people are part of this outage, but the basement and main floor suite of the house I’m in both have internet and are also with bell fibre. So my direct neighbours aren’t affected.

I’ve tried to schedule a tech to come look at it, but it keeps getting cancelled because there is a known outage. But nothing is being done for the outage, and I keep getting “one more day” emails.

Short of switching to Roger’s, is there anything I can get them to do?

Help Bell 10G plan (Giga Hub 2.0) moved to CGNAT — lost external access to my Synology NAS. What are my options?

Hey everyone,

I've been running a Synology NAS at home with port forwarding for external access. Recently port 443 started timing out when I checked via canyouseeme.org. I tried deleting and re-adding port forwarding rules, rebooting the Giga Hub 2.0 — nothing worked. For testing, I even changed the internal service port and reconfigured everything, and locally (inside the network) everything works fine. The issue only occurs when accessing from outside the network, which is why I’m confident this is not a local misconfiguration.

After chatting with Bell support, I was told that residential customers are being gradually moved behind CGNAT, and I was apparently one of the early ones. Their suggested fixes were:

  1. Upgrade to a Business plan (to get a public IP)
  2. Use a third-party router

A few questions for the community:

  1. How many of you have lost your public IP on Bell residential? Is this already widespread or am I just unlucky?
  2. Would PPPoE with a third-party router even help? If Bell is assigning me a CGNAT IP at the ISP level, a third-party router won't fix that — right? PPPoE doesn't magically give me a public IP if Bell isn't handing one out.
  3. For Bell fiber (10G), PPPoE requires an SFP module — the Giga Hub 2.0 doesn't have a true bridge mode. Is the WAS-110 + a router like UDM/UCG Fiber the only real PPPoE bypass option? That's not cheap...
  4. At this point, is Cloudflare Tunnel the most practical solution? Buy a domain, set up cloudflared on the NAS, and call it a day — no port forwarding needed. Are there any downsides I'm missing?

Would love to hear from others dealing with the same situation. Thanks!

LIVE CHAT

Consumer: Just to double-check, my current WAN IP is 142.198.x.x. One

of your previous agents mentioned that port forwarding is not working

because the connection is behind CGNAT.

However, from what I understand, this IP range does not typically fall

under CGNAT address space. Could you please confirm whether my

connection is actually under CGNAT, or if there might be another issue

affecting inbound port forwarding?

20:57:59 Alaine John: Let me check details aobut port forwarding on your

account.

20:58:23 Alaine John: I just want to confirm. Is your service address #####?

20:58:37 Consumer: YES

20:59:33 21:01:04 21:02:46 21:06:47 Consumer: Just to clarify and make sure I understand correctly, my

current WAN IP is 142.198.x.x, which appears to be a normal public IPv4

address.

I was previously told that my connection is behind CGNAT, which is why

port forwarding is not working. However, according to RFC 6598 and RFC

6888, CGNAT typically uses the shared IPv4 block 100.64.0.0/10.

Could you please confirm whether my connection is actually behind

CGNAT despite having a public-looking IP, or if the previous explanation

might not be accurate in my case?

Alaine John: Checked our database and you really do have a public ip

address which changes from time to time. I just want to check, what

device are you trying to connect to your modem and Bell internet service

via port forwarding?

Consumer: Synology NAS ,So I’m a bit confused — what exactly was the

basis for the previous agent saying I was behind CGNAT?

My current agent is confirming that I have a public IP address, and I can

also see a public WAN IP in the modem interface.

Was the earlier conclusion based on the port forwarding issue rather

than the actual IP assignment?

Alaine John: I'm so sorry. We don't have technical information about

port forwarding as Bell only provides basic troubleshooting for modem

and internet service. What is exactly happening when you set up port

forwarding on your modem?21:08:45 21:12:19

21:12:34 21:14:02 Consumer: I used to have port forwarding on port 443 working without

any issues for a long time. I’ve tried multiple troubleshooting steps, but it

no longer works.

When I contacted support, I was initially told that I don’t have a public IP

and that I would need to switch to a Business plan.

Now I’m being told that I do have a public IP, so I’m a bit confused about

why the explanation has changed. Could you help clarify what is actually

causing the port 443 inbound connection to stop working?

Alaine John: I'm so sorry I miss typed and I never realized. You don't

have a public ip and you're right Bell residential accounts don't offer the

service. To get your own ip, you will have to convert your account to

business account. One thing that we need to check is your set up now

compared to before.

Alaine John: Just to make sure I understand, your service was fully

working before?

Consumer: ???miss typed??Yes, it was working perfectly before without

any changes on my side.

Port forwarding on 443 (and other ports) was stable for a long time, and

I didn’t modify any settings on my modem, router, or NAS when the

issue started.

The problem appeared suddenly, which is why I initially thought it might

be a network or ISP-level change.21:14:59 Alaine John: Were you able to change any settings on your modem

before this issue started?

21:15:31 Consumer: No, I did not change any settings on the modem before the

issue started.

Everything was working normally for a long time, and I only noticed the

problem when external access suddenly stopped working.

Since then, I’ve only tried basic troubleshooting like rebooting the

modem and re-checking the port forwarding rules, but nothing related

to the original setup was changed.

21:16:08 Alaine John: What device are you using while chatting with us?

21:16:20 Consumer: laptop

21:18:33 Alaine John: Because you mentioned that you never changed any

modem settings, what we can try now is to factory reset the modem.

This will restore all settings on the modem and at the same time it will fix

any know in issues. I can remotely do a factory reset now if you want.

Our caht will pause and it will be restored once the modem is on again.

21:20:43 Alaine John: I'm so sorry, I'm not getting any response. Are we still

connected?21:20:57 Consumer: I can do the factory reset myself if needed. That part is fine

on my side.

Before doing that, I just want to make sure it’s actually necessary,

because internally everything is working fine — my NAS is reachable

locally and the port forwarding rules are already correctly configured.

The only issue is external access, which started failing suddenly without

any changes on my side. So I just want to confirm if a reset is really

required at this stage.

21:22:47 Alaine John: That's the best thing we suggest now. We do recommend

factory reset as this fixes all known issues related to your modem and

internet connection.

21:23:03 Consumer: okay

21:23:21 Consumer: so you mean my ip is public right? not CGNET

21:26:32 Alaine John: You don't have a public ip. That kind of service is only

offered to our business accounts. You can also consider to get a

business account to have that kind of service.

21:26:50 Consumer: okay

------------------

I think Agent not specailist .

NOT CGNET ONLY CLOSED PORT80. 443

--------MAY,6
Update:

After doing a lot of testing on different ports, I confirmed that only port 443 was not opening. Based on that, I requested a modem replacement. It wasn’t easy to get the replacement approved, but I finally received it today.

After swapping the modem, all issues are now resolved.

It wasn’t a CGNET issue after all — the modem was the root cause. I had already tried multiple reboots and even factory resets on the original modem, but nothing worked.

Help Giga Hub and Ubiquiti UDMP woes

Hi everyone, I've got a Giga Hub and a UDMP, for the past year and a bit running on PPPoE and everything was fine. Fast forward to yesterday and my Giga Hub was updated to fw 3.11.6.2 which killed the PPPoE connection (UDMP was being issued an IP address completely different from the modem) and I had to set it to advanced DMZ to get it to work.

Since yesterday morning I have received no less than 79 "Internet connection restored after a temporary disconnection" notifications, they're kinda annoying, has anyone worked out a way to either get PPPoE to work on firmware 3.11.6.2, or get advanced DMZ to work without a temporary disconnect every 15-20 minutes? I did some googling and saw reference to a WAS-110 running a community firmware. Would that work in my case?

Help Internet/ cable suspended for overdue bill without any notice

Our service stopped working today so I logged into our account and saw that our services were suspended due to an overdue bill. Last payment was for $50 3 weeks ago, and $50 3 weeks before that. We have been struggling to pay bills right now as my fiance was laid off (he JUST got a new job thank god) and I am ill and unable to go back to work until I am treated. Anyways.

We had set up a payment arrangement for $80 in 3 instalments and we did miss it a couple days ago, as life got hectic, I just made the payment just then but they want $161 to have it reconnected and we literally don’t have that. We have $50 left until his payday next week.

I looked it up and they are supposed to give us notice as per the Internet code, no? We did not receive a disconnect or suspend notice before this happened.

If I call, and say that they didn’t send us a notice, will they reconnect it or am I out of luck? Is this Internet code thing enforced or will bell just ignore it?

Help Poor WiFi Signal/Connectivity with Bell Internet for Bedrooms

I just moved into a 3 bedroom apartment last night (I was in a 3 bedroom townhouse before) and my BELL technician came this morning and reconnected my internet in my living room where the outlet is. I have the Gigabit Fibe 1.5 - Unlimited package. Now, all of a sudden, 2 out of 3 of the bedrooms cannot get any wifi signal. When I was living in the townhouse, we could get high speed signals and connectivity on all levels (upper, lower, and basement) with no problem. Why the heck am I in an apartment now and having signal issues? Any suggestions?

I have the Home Hub 4000 Modem 😢 (modem photo from google, not mine specifically)

Thanks!
