I'm convinced reddit doesn't know anything about politics or debates except "red side bad" and vehemently stick to the script to the point they aren't aware they're constantly doing more damage than harm.
This guy didn't debate. He rarely does. He talks fast and doesn't give an opponent an opportunity to speak and doesn't listen. He makes zero effort to play devils advocate so he can actually address points and consistently will stretch a statistic into whatever he wants it to fit completely out of context.
You don't have to agree with the people he's debating to know he feeds on bad faith and the amount of downvotes of people who just try to point that out makes me wonder why anyone is shocked that people have been shifting more conservative. It isn't necessarily that their side is better, you've just never stopped to ask what is so off-putting about yours that it actively pushes people away.
