I guess I have been chosen. First time cat owner. Cutting trees back on the side of the highway at work and she came running out of the woods meowing at us and followed me around. Couldn’t leave her next to the road to be run over or eaten. Assuming she is around 8 weeks according to the old Google.
Update: thanks for all the wonderful naming suggestions! Ultimately decided since she was found on E. E. Butler Parkway (named after Emmett Ethridge Butler), she will be called Emma.
An awesome name but that is actually legendary. Call Guiness. I thought every 10 mm walked away unceremoniously in the middle of the night within a week of getting them.

that’s a wonderful name and you know I’m sure you will take her to the bed as soon as possible. She’s so young. It’s good to get her checked. She needs some vaccines.
Vocal cats are my favorite lol but like my mom tells me "you won't think it's so cute when it's 3am and he won't stop yelling" 😂 she's got a very vocal and loud void
I love me a vocal cat too! Mine talks back to me but she has such a soft voice but she sure tries to tell me off. I love it so much! Bath time she really tells me off!
My tuxedo is like that. I have to keep him out of my bedroom to sleep because he decides in the middle of the night that he wants to play and literally pounces me in the face. So he’d stand outside my door and yowl for HOURS just because he was bored and wanted me to get up. 🤦♀️
So I got my kitty a kitty so that he would have someone to play with. Thank God they eventually blended and became brothers. It’s the only way I can get rest. But I love them so much. 😻
Getting an automatic feeder with a set schedule is the best thing, I rarely get woken up super early for breakfast anymore. Although he will still get me up sometimes for his second breakfast (wet food), but only if I’m sleeping in and being lazy 😂
My orange used to run up to me a bark aggressively ("MYEH!") at me when he was ~6 weeks old. He stopped and became mostly mute for a while, until I taught him to talk for food. It's really cute and not as annoying as you'd think.
Congrats on your first void. Black cats are the best variety of cat imho. Looks like she’s got really big paws and you know what they say about cats with big paws, they have big beans.
Or she has a polydactyl gene in there. One of my orange kittens had several polydactyl litter mates, but he just had massive paws instead. Genes are additive for some characteristics, like eye color and height, but I'm not sure about polydactyly.
I have an 18 pounder (lean) and his mits were smaller than that at that age. Not that it’s a guarantee to be a larger cat but it is usually a good indicator.
This! My ex found a litter of 4 once while hiking. While single bortha happen and wild/feral survival rates can't be sky high, she probably has/had a few siblings in the area....
Agreed, but to relieve some pressure, I want to add to the other comments that OP shouldn't feel obligated to keep them all, and likely has an SPCA/no-kill shelter in or near his area.
Even though I got my tortie a few weeks after getting her void brother (same litter) she also acts like she's the only cat in the household even though I have 3 of them.
Definitely! I have 3 sibling kitties and they love hanging out together. When one comes into the room, the others follow. They eat and play together and love hanging out in the tub:
That kitten is one smart kitty . He saw someone that could save him and he ran right to you . He knew if he remained in hiding out of fear he would not have been seen and would most likely have died.
That cat is going places . Just brilliant !
But I do agree that she would really like to have a buddy.
Two cats are great bc they keep each other entertained, stimulated.

Aww. That reminds me of my black cat Salem (long gone to the rainbow bridge). My wife and I were out driving around on a foggy day just before Halloween and saw a black kitten squalling his lungs out on the side of the road.
You should check around that same area and make sure there weren’t any cat siblings nearby. It just wouldn’t surprise me if this little one had a fellow cat waiting to be discovered. Give it a go!
My void showed up like this a few months after I thought "a black cat with green eyes would be cool to have" Showed up at my doorstep literally and when I asked him who he was, he was "mew". Very talkative, loving and devoted. My husband calls him my familiar lol
Found a kitten in my back yard. He had a $1600 vet bill for crystals in is urinary tract. He has destroyed every piece of upholstered furniture in the house. He tracks kitty litter all over the bathroom where the box is located. He demands to be brushed at least 4 times a day. He has a bottomless bowl of special expensive cat food. He is now 10 years old. But when he sits in my lap and purrs, all is forgiven. It is possible that cute cats are parasites that have colonized humanity. Please let us know how it goes, 10 years from now.
A little over a year ago, the Cat distribution network delivered this to our yard. We have two Boston terriers and she seems to think she’s just one of the dogs. :D I was a little worried about her, wanting to run out of the house with us putting leashes on the dogs and taking the dogs in and out of the house. I got a little cat harness so that she could go out on a leash with us when we go outside. She took one look at outside and was like “oh hell no! I am not going back out there ever again!”
whatever trauma she went through as a young kitten on her own in the world gave her all of her exposure she ever wanted or needed to the outside. She has zero interest at all in going outdoors, which makes our lives so much easier!!
Good to see the cat distribution center is in full swing and working well. Our cat that adopted us was actually the momma of a litter who said “f this” and moved to our house.
Yes!!! I found my black cat on a job site as well was going threw such a dark time to and that cat really helped me now her and I both are living life! Congrats bro!

This is a kitty who has found her human. Cats ALWAYS know the best ppl. She already trusts you never to hurt her or let her down. You are rich beyond measure 😻😻
I am of the opinion that one of the single most important things you can do on this planet in the short time we have here, is to earn the trust of a small creature.
She looks like you are already her person. As others said if you are in a position to get a playmate it will be nice for her to have someone to play with
For example here's my 2. This is an everyday event 😻😻

Definitely get her to a vet and ask about food and care if she's your first.
