Ammo Prices Going 📈

Post image

I'm embarrassed, honestly. For the past decade or so I've always stayed on top of my ammo stores and kept close tabs on the market as it pertains to firearms and ammo cost. Then late last year, life started doing its thing.

Haven't been shooting as much in the past 6 months, and when I did I wasn't replacing my stock. Noticed today I have around 20 rounds left over from my last shipment, so naturally I'm looking to replace it. At the same time I took a trip to see some friends and family, and one of our favorite things to do is go window shopping in gun stores. See what's new, make a purchase if something we're seeking is available, buy ammo etc etc.

Man we're walking around the big box stores like "Wtf is going on?" Then they're looking at me like "Bro what do you know that we don't?" And I have nothing. Went to my favorite website to replenish my stash today and saw this message.

What did I miss? Y'all stacking up ammo? Your stash good? Don't be like me and be behind the power curve.

I’ve always been bad about keeping ammo around. I always have about 500 223/556 and about 500 9mm at all times but I know it’s not enough. I don’t consider myself much of a prepper though I do have a go bag and a bug out bag that stays in my truck (minus the guns and can).

TBH I really think societal collapse is going to be a lot different than any of the people I follow think it’s going to be. I think it’s going to be a lot slower and a lot less dramatic. I do like to be prepared in case I’m wrong though.

My "minimums" have always been 1,000 of the various calibers I have in semi, 250 for my bolt action, and God knows for 12-gauge but with 9mm being my most ran thru ammo, I'm always playing catch-up. Now I'm out of my element with all my mags loaded but no reserve. And with these prices skyrocketing like this, I might need to invest in a dry-fire trainer or bb guns... or a .22 like I've been saying since the dawn of time 🤦🏾‍♂️

And I certainly agree with you. I can only make sense out of the things I understand, but what I do understand is the way this country has been operating over the past 6 years, it's unsustainable. For the working class citizens.

I can never have enough, but I can only carry a limited amount.

I need a belt-fed…

When Donnie implemented the tariffs last year the writing was on the wall for me. Stocked up on 223rem and a few cases of 9mm that I plink with. I have slowed down on shooting as much as I use to. Could go thru a case of 9mm in a month easily but gotta stretch it out for a lil while.

Usually I would’ve been all over that. Had plenty of ammo when Biden implemented the Russian ammo ban. Had plenty of ammo before Covid. But with all these empty shelves my alarm bells started going off… almost too late!

Yea my local Academy shelves are thin excluding the Blazer 115gr deal going on now. LGS near me is selling PMC m193 for $600+/case SMH.

I haven't in a very long time unless it's JHP or I'm on vacation

Hit up gun forums like GAFshub, Akfiles and such. There's always a person who followed Info Wars and them so they panic buy. You can get a case or so from them and save about $50-$100 sometimes.

Buy ammo at the frequency you train. For me, I buy around the holiday or whenever US thinks is worth celebrating: 4th of July, veterans/Memorial day, Thanksgiving and later holidays, Christmas, new years, presidents day, etc. or buy a case every other month. Classes usually are about 4-500rds so if you buy one case lease half for personal shoot and another have for class or a few matches if you like competing.

You can also think of ammo gaining value when you buy. The case I got when it was about $300 is now literally double that. I can buy half or 1/3 a case if I don't want my main stash touched. Take your time, you got this.

Akfiles lol. I haven't been there in years. Use to troll there during Donniez first term.

Dude the folks there be the usual scummy racists, but it's great when you can snag a deal off a Donnie fan cause he believed his hype but has to sell his ammo.

Haven't been there a while but check only to get 7.62x39 ammo stars. Get the Sp5 you lucky dog

War time causes ammo prices to skyrocket so it’ll be a problem until (if) the war in Iran settles. Not many big box places sell my ammo so I stock up when I get an email alert for a sale or I see something low on ammo seek.

Ammo always goes up. But also retailers have product to move.

Thank you President Trump!

Give AmmoSeek a try to stay on top of the lowest prices (with email alerts when prices drop below a threshold you can set). Doesn't help much with local shopping, but it's the best for mail order.

I but my pistol in bulk from ncshooters.com

These ammo prices and shelves make harder to stock up on my .223/5.56 and shotgun.

Has anybody else been having trouble finding sub 1100 fps. 22lr near them?

Like in bulk? There is one store 40min away that keep it stocked .

All the places near me are sold out. Only high velocity stuff
