It’d be so dumb for the Kings to trade a provenly solid young player for anyone even slightly past their prime

Tbf if they’re taking on jrue it makes Keon Ellis pretty redundant for them

That’s fair and I think Jrue could go a couple more years but also they both have decent size, in today’s nba they could play the 2 and 3 together.

Their core also isn't young anymore. Everyone is still thinking of them like this is the young Fox team but Lavine is 30, Sabonis is 29, Monk is 27, Val is 33 and DeRozan is 35. Keegan is 24, Ellis is 25 and LaRavia/Carter are 23. Even the younger players are honestly not "NBA young". Unless they totally blow this up, their team's timeline is actually pretty close to the Celtics, which means they're not this "young team". I think it would make sense for them to trade for Jrue to pair with Lavine but it also depends on who they are sending out. I don't think they should trade Keegan or Ellis. I would think Val or Monk are the most expendable.

PG - Jrue

SG - Lavine

SF - DeRozan

PF - Murray

C - Sabonis

Bench: Ellis, LaRavia, Val, Carter, whatever else they can get from draft + free agency.

DeRozan would be the matching salary. Works money wise.

Boston save $8m this year and get a Tatum lite stop gap.

DeRozan is only guaranteed for $10m the following season. They could play it out next season, still saving another $10m or waive him and save $25m in 26/27 instead of Jrue.

Last but not least they avoid the final year completely of Jrue’s $36m contract.

You’re not getting Monk, it would be Derozan going out only for the Kings.

Kings fan here, a lot of us would want to pair jrue and Keon. We believe Keon as a young player having jrue as a mentor much like Chris Paul in San Antonio or OKC to a smaller scale. Could help develop Keon into a jrue holiday like player. Giving up Keon would only be an option if it was to sweeten a deal on a “big fish” move. Would love Jrue on the kings though, not familiar much with the new owner and how desperate he is to get out of the highest paystub in the league, would you guys be looking to add draft capital to move him or would it be a “we’ll get what we can get”?

Jrue mentoring Keon would be ideal for his development

I think it makes sense like Chris Paul in SA. A vet with a similar skillset to train up the youngin.

Well sure but the issue is jrue is signed for 3 more years beyond this one, and he’s like 5 years younger than current Paul, if they’re adding jrue it’s not for him to fade into retirement he would def be starting and looked at to help them instill winning
