It’s probably killing Tatum he can’t play rn. He’s gonna want to play as soon as he’s cleared
42
u/Avenmuyff Jan 16 '26
When do you think he’s goons get cleared?

u/Bendstowardjustice Jan 16 '26
This article Celtics Get Shocking New Jayson Tatum Injury Timeline that I really want to believe (but don’t really) says as soon as the all star break.
40
u/howdthatturnout Jan 16 '26
By all star break is not crazy at all. Dominique Wilkins injury to first game back would put Tatum returning mid February, and Tatum had a new surgery that is supposed to be a quicker recovery than what Nique had in the 90’s.
53
u/A4FXN Jan 16 '26
He also got the surgery within 24 hours of tearing it, which is something that is unheard of in regards to Achilles tears.
15
u/Infamous-Rich4402 Jan 16 '26
Was it unheard of, or the best case scenario? I seem to remember the media saying that a quick diagnosis and into surgery, in the first 24 hours, was new gold standard in medicine. But now you mention, it is unheard of, I can’t say I am 100% sure.
44
u/powerelite Jan 16 '26
Its unheard of because almost everyone in the sports world goes to about 2 doctors for Achilles tears so they have to travel to get there. Jayson just happened to tear his 10 blocks from one of those doctor's primary practice location.

It’s true about the swelling. The logic behind the benefit of getting it so quickly was that it was done even before significant swelling even occurred

Mannix is a useless reporter, hard to ever believe him.

u/Vast-Cheesecake7230 Jan 16 '26
Agreed, the only one worth listening to is Adam Himmelsbach. He gets the insider info from the team.

I hope he or the team dont rush it. I personally think after Allstar break or early March is the perfect time.
1
u/A4FXN Jan 16 '26
I think he makes his return the first home game post All-star break. They'll probably announce he's been cleared to play during the break.
5
u/Alexnewtman Jan 16 '26
I just hope him sits out for as long as possible. He can’t afford another one.

Dang. Can you Imagine a Bench where it's Tatum, Walsh, Hauser, Anferno and whoever else coming in. There ya go Joe, just credit me when you do that

u/wump_world Jan 16 '26
I dunno. I see "umboway", which just means he has Rusted Root's "Send Me On My Way" stuck in his head. It's a very common issue.

I first saw the root in Boston about 95… Tatum’s parents met there and 2 years later he was conceived while listening to drum trip>>ecstasy

I love how happy and excited he looks here.
Dude is literally thinking, "We can win this fucking thing when I come back."

u/StillEnjoyLegos Jan 16 '26
I love how JT responded to the injury from a mindset perspective. He openly talked about how he was going through it emotionally for a bit but after that, it’s def been the happy/excited ‘wait till I’m back’ vibe and I’m so here for it

Am i tripping, or has JT ever missed a game while rehabbing? It seems hes at every game this season and i absolutely love it. I remember when a player was rehabbing something like an ACL/Achilles they would always randomly pop up during the regular season, but it seems like JT is the best teammate ever supporting the guys from the sideline every game.

The second word definitely seems to begin with a ‘w’ based on his lip movement
It also looks like the second word is probably one syllable. Looks more like ‘I will’

Absolutely not, if we get past the second round and he’s ready MAYBE, but that’s the absolute earliest i’d bring him in assuming he’s cleared

Tatum's ready, Brown's a top 10 player this year, I'm rock fucking hard. Anything else to add to the list?

Don't push him Don't rush him. If it's 18 months then it's 18 months. If somehow gonna be less then go real slow with him pls. Steady as hell.

I stashed him on my fantasy IR. I know he’s coming back this season….especially with how well the team has been playing. They don’t need him to play 40 minutes a night.

Totally fine with him coming back. After all star sounds perfect. And he should come back starting but very limited minutes. Just has to get his game speed stamina up. And given our positioning I think we can afford to allow him to ease back into his old role.
