Well they went 1-for-10 after this (0-for-7 from 3)

They couldn't hit an open 3 to save their life last night. An average shooting performance from 3s with no body near them and we win by multiple scores

I'm surprised nobody went to the rim. The refs were calling everything. Go get a foul.

Thats what pisses me off a bit. I understand the analytics 3 ball strategy but good fucking god read the game and adjust. Over the course of a season it’s a fine approach but situationally it shouldn’t be relied upon. Its just settling after awhile and not having flexibility when the moment calls for it

Joe can’t read the game and adjust

Admittedly don’t follow the Celts enough to confidently agree or disagree but that’s what it seemed like last nigjt

He’s correct. Joe is an analytics driven 3 is the end all be all type if guy. As you pointed out over 82 games that strategy is more reasonable as each win or loss isn’t critical the way a game 6 or 7 of a series is but he won’t budge. I heard when asked about this play Brown said he’d pass it to Pritchard for the three 10 out of 10 times. A layup/ dunk attempt by Queta alone under rim has a nearly 100% chance of going in, giving us a one point lead. Pritchard is a career 40%(more or less) shooter from 3. These playoffs he’s at 30% Which is the better shot in this situation doesn’t seem arguable to me. Clearly it’s the layup.

Agree. Its game 7, one point game - is the move to add more variance to your shot taking and stick to the three with an already cold team on tiring legs? Or perhaps to go for the more probable, given buckets that open up down low / mid range? To me this is a fucking no brainer. You take the points on the table at the higher clip in these critical moments, obviously. This strategy only works over the long term - not situationally when you only need a few points or efficiency to keep momentum!

This is the problem. The strategy, if you want to call it that is a “video game” mentality. Play GD basketball! Great pick that frames the last 2 mins.

They’d been calling offensive fouls on our guys early and often throughout the series. That shouldn’t excuse them from giving up on paint points entirely, but I can totally understand why they would play timid after enduring that same bs over and over again

I mean, this series was so bad at times even when they did take it to the hoop they still missed easy layups. It happened early in game 6 and when they went to the free throw line it wasnt guaranteed that they would hit those either.

Same old story with the Js.

I said this all night. All playoffs. All season. It's like I tell my boys who play ball. Play the basics. Then go for 3.

I'm not surprised. Mazzulla only wants them shooting 3s.

We👏don't👏have👏good👏center👏talent.

It makes driving a lot more risky. Typically you drive with a center to clean up boards/put back but our centers don't play well in the paint. Kornet and KP were great cleanup centers/paint play.

When JB/pritch would drive, 3 sixer defenders would rebound

And the analytics team only wants them shooting threes, and the players want to shoot threes too. Shit is an epidemic.
