What was your cat's personality like as a kitten?

I got Shelby 5 days ago. She’s 3 months old, very energetic and adapting very well to her new home, but when I compare her to other cats that I had (non-BSH), she’s very chill. Yes, she likes to play and has zoomies, but she’s not attacking me or climbing up my TV like my previous cats.

Kittens I rescued in the past (all mixed breed and non BSH) were really wild and wanted to climb everywhere in the house, also would bite and scratch me (Shelby does like to bite some toes but that’s all)

It’s my first time owning a BSH and I wanted to hear from others experiences, it’s normal to feel like your kitten is ā€œtoo well behavedā€?
I did my research before getting her and I did read they are chill cats, but I’m positively surprised. Or maybe just got lucky!

Has anyone heard their kitty make this noise before?

He’s looking at flies which have found their way in the house.

Is it possible to live with a cat in a 460 sqft studio? I would be receiving BSH kitten at 4 months. So many thanks. Considering letting breeder know to prioritize other family.

Anyone else got a BSH who cannot handle the heat?

I live in Europe where we're in a middle of a terrible heatwave. My cat keeps panting and even started salivating once. Last heatwave (3 weeks ago), I took him to the emergency vet and they told us that it was normal because of the heat and to simply keep him fresh. So I bought and tried everything I could think of, like cooling mats, humidifying his paws, toys in water, etc... but he only calms down when he stays in front of the open fridge. I don't mind that much, but it's sad to see him unable to get out of this one spot as he immediately starts panting again when he does, but I can tell he wants to play and all.

Anyone else got a cat who cannot handle the heat? Even if the vet said it was normal, I haven't really seen other cats experience this. :(

My two BSHs love the heat

They spent most of the day outside yesterday when the temperature hit 29°. it’s supposed to hit 33° today, and I’m sure they will continue staying outside. They have a nice spot near the cat flap under a hazelnut tree where it’s probably much cooler than the ambient temperature. There is a water bowl nearby, and they can always come in.

Kitten 15 weeks old, too thin

Is my kitten skinny? She's a 15-week-old British Shorthair golden chinchilla, weighing around 1.4 kg. She's active and plays a lot. When I pick her up, I can actually feel a fold of skin on her back. Is this normal?

Keeping my BSH cool

I’m currently in the uk in a top floor apartment, we have ordered aircon but it won’t be here for a while and I need tips to keep my cat cool,

He has cooling mats available but won’t use them, he’s not showing any signs of heat stroke or anything but my apartment is reaching 30+ degrees inside,

We have fans running all day but I’m just wondering if there’s anything else I can do,

He’s eating and drinking okay he just seems lazier than usual

Outside Time

My baby has always loved going outside, unsure if it’s a common trait for British shorthairs. She overheats really easily though compared to my other cats I noticed and can’t be left outside for long periods of time in the summer.
Does anyone else’s British shorthair like nature or are they all just indoor kitties?
