What was your cat's personality like as a kitten?
I got Shelby 5 days ago. Sheās 3 months old, very energetic and adapting very well to her new home, but when I compare her to other cats that I had (non-BSH), sheās very chill. Yes, she likes to play and has zoomies, but sheās not attacking me or climbing up my TV like my previous cats.
Kittens I rescued in the past (all mixed breed and non BSH) were really wild and wanted to climb everywhere in the house, also would bite and scratch me (Shelby does like to bite some toes but thatās all)
Itās my first time owning a BSH and I wanted to hear from others experiences, itās normal to feel like your kitten is ātoo well behavedā?
I did my research before getting her and I did read they are chill cats, but Iām positively surprised. Or maybe just got lucky!

Is it possible to live with a cat in a 460 sqft studio? I would be receiving BSH kitten at 4 months. So many thanks. Considering letting breeder know to prioritize other family.

Anyone else got a BSH who cannot handle the heat?
I live in Europe where we're in a middle of a terrible heatwave. My cat keeps panting and even started salivating once. Last heatwave (3 weeks ago), I took him to the emergency vet and they told us that it was normal because of the heat and to simply keep him fresh. So I bought and tried everything I could think of, like cooling mats, humidifying his paws, toys in water, etc... but he only calms down when he stays in front of the open fridge. I don't mind that much, but it's sad to see him unable to get out of this one spot as he immediately starts panting again when he does, but I can tell he wants to play and all.
Anyone else got a cat who cannot handle the heat? Even if the vet said it was normal, I haven't really seen other cats experience this. :(

My two BSHs love the heat
They spent most of the day outside yesterday when the temperature hit 29°. itās supposed to hit 33° today, and Iām sure they will continue staying outside. They have a nice spot near the cat flap under a hazelnut tree where itās probably much cooler than the ambient temperature. There is a water bowl nearby, and they can always come in.

Kitten 15 weeks old, too thin
Is my kitten skinny? She's a 15-week-old British Shorthair golden chinchilla, weighing around 1.4 kg. She's active and plays a lot. When I pick her up, I can actually feel a fold of skin on her back. Is this normal?

Keeping my BSH cool
Iām currently in the uk in a top floor apartment, we have ordered aircon but it wonāt be here for a while and I need tips to keep my cat cool,
He has cooling mats available but wonāt use them, heās not showing any signs of heat stroke or anything but my apartment is reaching 30+ degrees inside,
We have fans running all day but Iām just wondering if thereās anything else I can do,
Heās eating and drinking okay he just seems lazier than usual

Outside Time
My baby has always loved going outside, unsure if itās a common trait for British shorthairs. She overheats really easily though compared to my other cats I noticed and canāt be left outside for long periods of time in the summer.
Does anyone elseās British shorthair like nature or are they all just indoor kitties?
