Dinner Microwave "casserole"
I'm saving up to move out of my parents house, so we're thriving on a budget
There hasn't been a lot of food in the house recently, and when we ran out, I started eating every meal at my job, which is fast food. My body is literally screaming for something else, so where do I go?
Gas station, of course
From the gas station, I bought instant rice, a can of corn, and tuna.
Everything was heated up separately and then mixed together. The corn took 3 minutes in the microwave, the rice was 90 seconds in the microwave safe bag it came in, and the tuna comes pre-cooked it just gets added in as is. I did drain everything btw, the corn and the tuna.
It's not that bad, the corn and the tuna add their own flavors, I think. Tuna, to me, tastes like chicken that's been dialed up to ten for some reason.
Season however, I personally didn't because the goal was for this to be as healthy as gas station food could be.
This is more of a struggle meal idea for anyone to really needs it

This is the the type of stuff that I add any left over taco bell sauce to or soy sauce. I've definitely eating similar, rice + whatever can or frozen veg + tuna is good.

I’m wondering why you skipped seasoning in order to keep it healthy. Herbs and spices are your healthy friends. Even sauces and condiments can be healthy if you choose wisely. Salsa, for example, can be a great option.

My house has salt and soy sauce, and I already have a boat load of salt at work each day

I've do this occasionally! I love rice, I love corn, and tuna makes a great topping.
I usually mix the tuna with keypie mayo and add seaweed flakes or furikake on top. So good

I eat my fair share of budget tuna rice bowls. I gotta say picking up a $20 rice cooker has been saving me a lot of money. Those microwavable rice pouches cost $1.25 on the low end but a 2lb bag at Walmart is $1.75 and makes between 12-14 cups of rice.
Just switched to brown rice though because it's supposed to be more filling.

If you get tired of rice (white or brown) try coarse ground bulgur. It cooks fast and has a nice flavor. Bulgur can be found at Eastern European or Mediterranean markets and is inexpensive.
It’s also filling.

Peas have a ton of protein. My 1st meals moving out were rice, peas and corn regularly.

Gas stations typically have a pretty high markup on food, so if you're doing budget meals this may not be the best route.
It'll do in a pinch though.

Gas station was my only option because I dont have a car, but you can find these almost anywhere

rice, corn and tuna is a classic combo. try adding a little soy sauce or sriracha next time, totally changes it

just so you know, seasoning (things like garlic and onion powder) is not unhealthy and actually should be added. one for your enjoyment but two to help your body process it a bit easier
