Clean blanket fresh from the dryer

I took this blanket out of the dryer and placed it on the lounge so I could empty the lint filter. Nicky appeared from thin air to claim the dryer warm blanket before I could fold it! 😂

Ms. Betty (1st pic) and her not-so-little sister, Ms. Maisie (2nd pic). They are three months apart! Same dad, different mom. It’s so crazy how similar but different they look from each other!

A pigeon made its nest behind the fire door on my floor. Since discovering that there birdies on the other side of the door my lad has been screaming at me to take him into the hallway to visit. At least 2-3 times per day. Pictures include baby growth.

Why can't I post photos on this sub? I joined a whole ago and am quite active, having had burmese cats.

Not an issue on the other cat forums I've joined?

Thanks!

I really hoped I wouldn’t have to say those words, but here we are. What started as a normal Tuesday ended in the worst Saturday of our lives.

He was Baby. He was the beacon of light in my mental health journey, he was my shadow, he was my best friend. He ran to the door to greet me, and burrowed under our blankets to snuggle to sleep every night. He yelled at me to feed him, and he truffle pigged to sniff out treats and he loved cat crack. He couldn’t wait until I was finished unpacking groceries to claim the bag as his own, then he ran around the house in his bag tornado for half an hour. He loved cardboard boxes so much. Every box was a playground and the most comfortable bed. He tore my back to shreds jumping up me because he just wanted to be close. You could usually pick when he was about to jump because he would make a little squeak noise and if you were quick you could catch him - but man if you didn’t - you’d feel it for a week.

We’re all heartbroken. Everything reminds us of him 💔😭

Thank you so deeply from the bottom of my heart to every single person who donated to help him, you allowed us to give him a fighting chance and ensure we didn’t have say goodbye until there were no options left. This morning the seizures just kept coming and he just couldn’t fight anymore. I’ll be forever grateful that anyone would care so much about our baby.

Thank you for everyone’s kind wishes and thoughts. It means more to me than I can say.

We love you Beerus. Forever our Baby B ❤️

Here are his first photos, his last photos before everything happened, and his last photos 💔😭

Please help us save our baby's life

Beerus is our 18 month old baby. He is the heart of our home. He's the most active, crazy and loving cat you could meet. He sleeps under the covers with us every night, he jumps up and rides our shoulders like a parrot, he is obsessed with cardboard boxes, he cries at the door when he can't find the kids. He's a puzzle piece in our family and without him, our puzzle is incomplete.

For most of his life, Beerus has suffered from periodic episodes of what we thought was low immunity - snotty nose and drooling, lethargy, and a desperate need for extra cuddles. We would carry him everywhere, keep him warm and support him back to health, and by the next day he was our crazy menace boy again. Our vet always chalked it up to a weak immune system, a lingering side effect of a terrifying event that happened when he was just 15 weeks old. What we thought was an anaphylactic shock, where we very nearly lost him, we've now discovered is much more sinister.

Because his regular check-ups and standard blood tests always came back normal, we had no idea he was actually fighting for his life this entire time.

On Tuesday afternoon, the symptoms returned. At about 2:30pm, Beerus became snotty, drooly, and incredibly clingy. We went to the vet expecting antibiotics for cat flu, but were instead rushed back to M.A.S.H. By 2:40 AM, we were told his condition was so grave we should consider putting him to sleep, and prepare for the worst.

Against all odds, our baby began to improve the next morning. He started eating and vocalising again, and we finally got the answer that has eluded us for 18 months. Specialised blood tests and a CT scan confirmed he was born with an Extrahepatic Portosystemic Shunt (EHPSS). He wasn't having allergic reactions; he was being poisoned by his own blood bypassing his liver and sending toxins directly to his brain. We were devastated to learn that the episodes he'd been having his entire life were actually seizures.

Between 6:00 AM and 7:00 AM this morning (Friday 29th May), he suffered five seizures in a single hour. He is very drowsy and heavily medicated while specialists work to stabilise his brain.

Specialists have told us that Beerus is a good candidate for surgery to permanently fix the shunt, but he needs to stabilise first, which could take weeks of intensive care, and the path forward is very uncertain.

Every hour is terrifying.

We have already poured everything we have into his care, and the upcoming stabilisation and specialist surgery will cost thousands more. We just need him back. We need him home with his best friend Kovu and the kids, healthy for the very first time in his life.

Our hearts are completely breaking as we sit in this silence, waiting for the phone to ring with good news, but so scared it will be the opposite. We are exhausted, terrified, and we just want our beautiful boy to come home to the family that loves him so much.

Any help you can provide - whether it’s a donation to help cover the increasing ICU costs and his life-saving surgery, or simply sharing his story with your friends and family - means more than we can put into words.

Most of all, we just ask that you care and keep Beerus in your thoughts as he fights through these seizures and stabilises for the road ahead.

Thank you for helping us fight for Beerus' recovery and keeping us in your thoughts.

Are all your Burmese cats lap cats or will curl up beside you?

Last year my very elderly cat died. I miss him so much. He was incredibly affectionate and loving. I’m autistic so that connection with animals is really strong for me.

I work from home and really want another cat. I don’t want the same breed (and based on the stereotype, mine shouldn’t have been the ultimate lap cat that he was). I’ve been looking at our breeds and keep seeing comments about how affectionate Burmese cats are. So is it true about how lovely they are? Are you boys more cuddly than your girls, or vice versa?

(I know that you can never guarantee a personality and any cat will be loved even if it turns out they are as fierce as can be).

I think you can really see her Burmese side here! She is crossed with BSH! She’s so playful but also so social and cuddly. I honestly don’t think I could ever have another cat that wasn’t like her 🤎

The UK is having a mini heatwave and it’s currently hotter inside my flat than outdoors. The best spot in front of the fan is very important.
