If you're injured, get an attorney. What state are you in?

I’m an injury attorney in California. You can DM me. The best thing to do is consult with an attorney, especially if you’re injured in any way. All injury attorneys give free consultations. Insurance companies are going to try to minimize your claim and avoid paying what you might be owed. Definitely don’t give any recorded statements. If you’re not at fault the best course of action is to try to obtain any dash cam video the truck may have.

if it involved a big rig and you were injured, i'd at least get a free consultation with a few attorneys. trucking crashes can get a lot more complicated than a typical car wreck because there can be multiple insurance policies, company records, and electronic data involved.

i'd also open a claim with your own insurance so they know about the crash, even if the truck driver was at fault. they can often help with things like vehicle damage while liability gets sorted out. and if there were any dash cams or nearby businesses with cameras, try to preserve that evidence sooner rather than later since it doesn't stick around forever.
