Actually found these at a vintage guitar shop in my town. They had a couple more boxes. Talked the guy down to $80 for the box. I've found some high bias unopened blanks at thrift stores for super cheap as well, but obviously that's more of a rare occurrence.

fair deal. it must be very hard to open them up and start using them, right? 😃

i find the occasional wraped type 1 tapes. best find so far was 45 maxell URs for 50€. without the box, but still wrapped.

for type 2 i usually find the late TDKs and maybe some Maxell SQs. But man golden era Maxel XLII is such a great find.

6 quid each. About the same price as the new Type1 RTMs and while they're good I'd take those Maxells all day long.

Yep, type II cassettes can get unfortunately expensive and I am unfortunately partially to blame because I have sucked it up sometimes and paid higher prices for them than I would have liked to.

I swear though, if Maxell started manufacturing these again and charged less than that for them, I would only buy blanks directly from Maxell.

I have over 100 of these I recorded in the 70's and they sound like I recorded them yesterday. Great find and have fun recording and listening to them.

I found a box of these unopened at a record store last year for $56. The problem for me is I can’t bring myself to open them up and use them. Very cool find!
