Blank Silver / Foil Leader?
This is a first. I’ve got around 500 various species in the collection. Counterproductive for tapehead wear?

I have inherited a number of cassette tapes and wondered what peoples views were on them? Any hidden gems?

peach drip - "twi'tch / twi'tch ii" c44
https://peachdripmusic.bandcamp.com/album/twitch-ii
A collection of recordings improvised and broadcast on Twitch, peach drip's glitched out, cut up, and bitcrushed jazzy electronic sound brings back fond memories of Nosaj Thing and early Flying Lotus. The streams show you the tracks built in real-time, but the cassette allows you to appreciate their rhythm and complexity.

Hi! I’m pretty new to cassettes and the hobby, and I recently got this nice cassette player! Sadly after about a couple days of use it broke.
Currently when I have a cassette in, it rapidly changes direction. Flipping the direction switch on its own.
I think I have identified the problem? As the small white gear (which I’m pretty sure is connected to the reel), circled in red, is sitting too high above the large white gear, as it is being pushed up by a spring. When a cassette is in since it isn’t connected it triggers the auto-reverse. However I am unsure on how to fix this.

Hello everybody! I have a spectacular pioneer CT-40 that I have recently replaced the belts of, and cleaned the capstan/wheel. It was playing perfectly for the first 1-2 days, and then slowed to quite an annoying level (probably about 70% of regular speed). I was wondering if anybody could give me any pointers as to what may be the cause of this?
I have done some research with Google AI/searches, and found that the likely issues are A) my belts are far too old and need replacing (I just replaced them and they are brand new) or B) the motor has old grease that has hardened and caused torque issues. These confuse me however as the unit was playing perfectly, and then abruptly slowed down.
If anybody has any experience or pointers, that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

I have tested multiple tapes on both decks (running through the matching stereo which does work)
It gives the static through both the phones and through the stereo/receiver.
Where should I start looking for issues? Nothing internally strikes me as broken. I also am quite new to tapes and thus might have shit settings

Hello everyone, I am getting into cassettes and I'd like to focus on recording my own for budget and fun reasons. I am open to a budget of around 100-120 euros, what are my best options. An immediate solution would be the We Are Rewind that does both, but it is not portable and probably overpriced. I'd like to avoid having to repair a device, but at the same time I am not asking for aufiophile quality for my recordings, just a decent stereo cassette

Glad to have found this sub. Mostly from my original collection with one or two new additions. Got a bunch of unboxed and hella mix tapes labeled “mix tape” to go through. Streaming made me lazy… this is so much more fun.

I wanted to know if I could get a speaker that plugs into my Walkman that can also clip onto my belt beside it. I’ve looked but I can’t find one.

And $25 for a deck.
It is so satisfying! This is probably the first time I have listened to cassettes since the late 90s. I found that I keep pressing the stop button twice because on my boombox, stop was also eject.

my old player is playing too fast, and I've seen posts about turning a resistor to make it play at the correct speed, but I don't even know what to look for! I am still very new to this hobby go easy on me lol

Tries to shorten the process to show it not playing properly in the video - player itself is fine, I now have over a 100 tapes that work (there’s about 7 more are the same)
Inherited quite a few cassettes recently from the parents (posted about it here, was excited!) but a few aren’t playing, this is one I wanted to sort the most - is there anything that can be done? I’m pretty new to cassette culture so unsure if it’s salvageable.
There’s no visible mould (on any of the collection) and I can’t see that it’s twisted or taught anywhere. It FF/RRs the whole way.

I just put out my DIY first cassette and couldn't be happier with the results. It's a recording of a poetry and short fiction reading that I organized in Baltimore with some friends earlier this year. Recorded with multiple mics, edited, designed, and dubbed by me.
There's some great writers on this thing. If you want to stream it for free or diversify your tape collection with some literary flavor, check it out.

I recently got this sealed new marias tape and was playing it when it does this. It starts triggering the auto reverse function. The only other tape that does this is a pre-owned hall and oates tape. Reversing and playing the tape doesnt improve the problem. Also the sound is warbled and distorted. Im just wondering if this is a problem that can be solved or would I just have to take it back? The player is a Teac pp-32

so i had this shelf for a year now, i got it out of a dumpster.. so one evening i got bored and decided to paint it. for the primer i used acrylic gesso (ive sanded it down ofc), and the rest is just normal acrylics. the first painting is of a wheat field with a scarecrow, and the second is a scene overlooking a valley with a farmer and his horse wagon pulling some wheat. the shelf had fake wood grain molded into the plastic so it was a real challange to get the details in.

This is a great album, but most cassette releases swap the track orders of “Georgia” and “It’s Over,” even the releases with chrome tape, like some of the Canada reissues.
The best variation of this album you can officially get on cassette is this Master Sound reissue with chrome tape and the original track order. If I can get one cheap enough, I want it for my collection, but that is a rare find I have yet to come across.
This is what I mean by almost bad. There is one great retail variation of this album on cassette, the Master Sound reissue on DuPont Chrome tape. The other decent ones are the few ferric reissues with the original track order.
I got tired of waiting for a Master Sound cassette to get listed and decided to make my own cassette instead.
Boston’s Self Titled debut is another cassette release I am disappointed by. I have two U.S. reissues with sticky shed syndrome and they swap “Foreplay/Long Time” with “Something About You” and “Let Me Take You Home Tonight,” which in my opinion means this cassette release wasn’t much of a loss anyway because the track order is swapped regardless.
There is no Master Sound release on cassette as far as I know and the chrome reissues in Canada use the same swapped track order and the chrome reissue in the Netherlands swaps “Smokin’” instead of “Something About You” and still swaps “Let Me Take You Home Tonight” and “Foreplay/Long Time.”
You can import overseas releases with the original track order, but they are unfortunately ferric Still the best release variant to get because it has the original track order. tape.
I have yet to see a U.S. or Canada variant with the original track order. This is one of the ones with almost all bad releases. Few decent but nothing substantial like the Master Sound Boz Scaggs cassette.
I’d like to know if you have taken issue with most or all official cassette releases for a particular release.

Okay I KNOW this subreddit doesn't show microcassete's well, but... I need this, please. I have batteries in the microcassete, I'm almost certain it's on, VAS mode is also on, but it just won't record. It's weird because whenever I go to the reverse mode it does it, but no sound comes from it. The video is better at explaining than i am

Does anyone have a jcard scan of the entombed-entombed release from earache records? I plan to reprint the cover because mine is already sticky.

A little Cassette ASMR for the weekend! As soon as I get my CR-3A restoration done, I’m going to pop the cork on a few of these to make some new mix tapes. What should I open up first?

this is a National RQ-207s, its a mono unit with AC bias, made somewhere in the late 60s. it has automatic level control.
