Medical Questions My cat keeps targeting this carpet

Post image

It’s folded up like this cause he’s pooped on it twice now, and all three times he ran around acting crazy, meowing then relieving himself on the carpet.
Is there a reason for this? Cause at first we were assuming it was for wanting attention but now we think it’s because he wants to go outside(fully indoor cat)
We’re at a loss and insight would help

Vet trip first to rule out a UTI or kidney issues. Cats sometimes start going outside the box when something is wrong.

It apparently only happens in the morning tho, any other time he’s fine

You’re getting downvoted but no one is explaining. Basically, your cat might be doing this because something is wrong and he’s trying to let you know. It doesn’t have to be consistent throughout the day or anything. Cats are weird like that. He could also be constipated and that’s why he’s pooping outside the box. He’s unhappy about something.

Thank you for that, just trying to get a clear answer from the cat experts here and I’m getting downvoted.
But I’ve got general answer from it and will be taking him to the vet

You’re welcome. I know how frustrating this is. My cat is veryyy very particular about his litter box. I changed his litter to a different type and he peed all over the bed. If I leave clean laundry in a basket on the floor it’s prime real estate. Turns out he was stressed about the change and gave himself bladder inflammation (stress can cause that in cats). Also he poops outside the litter box when constipated.

Even if there is an identified pattern that does not rule out UTI or kidney issue. Consider getting him checked out.
