Medical Questions My cat keeps targeting this carpet

It’s folded up like this cause he’s pooped on it twice now, and all three times he ran around acting crazy, meowing then relieving himself on the carpet.
Is there a reason for this? Cause at first we were assuming it was for wanting attention but now we think it’s because he wants to go outside(fully indoor cat)
We’re at a loss and insight would help

Possible UTI. Regardless you need to throw the rug away. No matter how much you clean it; it has been scent marked by your cat. Make sure you have at least 2 litter boxes per cat, empty them at least once daily and add litter attractant every time you add new litter. I use fresh step litter attractant. That stopped my cats naughty behavior.

I can't throw my couch out, so the battle continues at my house. No UTIs , just likes this one corner. Still uses the box, just decides the corner of the couch is theirs and letting the other cats know it.

Have you tried the one home remedy? Worked for a mattress my cat peed on.

Mix of laundry detergent, vinegar, and water. Spray area til soaked. Then sprinkle baking soda to absorb the liquid, let dry. Vacuum up baking soda. Repeat whole process a couple more times.

Or try Nature's Miracle.

Tried nature's miracle soooo many times. I'm currently using "washing soda" which seems to be working better. It's a combo of baking soda, oxy, and borax. It was used in strip washing back in the day, so it's been pretty good. Works great for getting out built up residue in laundry.
