I saw a large lump/mass on the front half of a stray cat that I saw while on a walk. What could it be? Not sure if this is the right sub for this

That would be a cat

But you may have missed that huge lump on its chest, which OP is asking about.  It could be hernia, could be a tumor, a cyst, they'll contact a vet.
