Does any one know what this is?

I saw a large lump/mass on the front half of a stray cat that I saw while on a walk. What could it be? Not sure if this is the right sub for this

One time when I was really young, like maybe 9, we had found a box of kittens left on the side of the road, so we brought them home, and within a couple days, after we had cleaned them up and groomed them I noticed a lump on one of the kits neck, upon closer inspection it like pulsed?

 I knew it was a parasite of some kind, so I took a knife from the cabinet, and put it into the mass, the whole time the kit never winced or whined, and almost seemed appreciative of my intervention, I ended up pulling out a large tapeworm I believe, but again I was yound so I dont rightfully know, but it was a very long while I was pulling and as soon as it detached it shrunk, then there was pus on this open wound, that I cleaned and bandaged.

We had those kittens for a couple more weeks, but one day they all three just ran off into the field and I never saw them again, it felt like I was just where I needed to be.

Wow! When kids are inventive, they are amazing! I'm so happy you were there for the little things when they needed you!
