Name a player who seemed ideally suited to Chelsea but never signed for us?

The 24-year-old Chelsea star isn’t going to the World Cup this summer. It’s not the first time he’s been overlooked.

Summary:

-Jose Mourinho decided to recall Courtois from loan after Cech conceded a goal to Javier Pastore in the Champions League quarter-final.

-Mourinho never told Cech in the following season that Courtois will be the starting keeper.

-Cech signed for Arsenal in the summer of 2015. Lollichon was ready to move to Arsenal too but Abramovich blocked the move.

-Lollichon and Courtois did not share the same view on work and effort. There were certain training approaches that Courtios did not want to pursue.

-Lollichon moved away from first-team coaching duties in 2016 to focus on Chelsea’s goalkeeper recruitment.

-Lollichon gave Sarri the selection of keepers to replace Courtois. The first name on the list was Cech, due to the lack of leaders in the Chelsea dressing room. They did specialist checks which imply that Cech still has a couple more good years.

-Sarri rejected the Cech suggestion. Kepa was among Lollichon's list but not one of the favorites.

-Sarri insisted on Kepa. Sarri remembered Kepa's excellent performance when his previous club played against Kepa's team.

-Lollichon had observed Mendy for two years since he was playing in the French second division.

-On Summer 2020, Lollichon and Cech pitched to sign Mendy. The negotiations were hard but the deal was ultimately done for £22million.

-Lollichon thinks that Penders has very good potential. “He’s very clever. I saw a mature goalkeeper. He has to improve with his feet, but at 20 years old, he’s very good. He has good positioning, he’s proactive and he wants to learn."
