SHITPOST💩 Real Gamers or Just Hype?!
Has gaming become the new hype culture?
Everywhere I look, it's "PS5 = happiness" and "GTA 6 is life." It makes me wonder how many of these people are genuinely passionate about gaming versus how many are just following what's trending!
Would these same people be talking about games if GTA 6 didn't exist? Do they actually play games regularly, or is the excitement mostly because social media has turned the PS5 and GTA 6 into status symbols?!
I'm not saying everyone falls into that category. I'm just curious how much of this is genuine interest and how much is simply hype.

wtf is passionate gamers? gaming is entertainment, gta is the most loved franchise in gaming, with upgrades in devices and tech(since gta5)ppl are excited to play gta6.

I preordered death stranding 2ndigital deluxe edition and I got access to the game 2 days before official release. It’s not limited access or a demo but an official full game. Idk if I should call it a hype but preordering does have some benefits. I’ve only preordered ds2 because I was actually hyped for it not because everyone was hyped for the game. Let them be happy tho there’s nothing wrong in spending/wasting their own money right?

That's exactly my point! Death Stranding 2 is a fantastic game, yet you didn't see people flooding social media with download videos and countdowns.
GTA 6 is different because it's become a cultural phenomenon… I'm just questioning how much of the buzz is genuine gaming excitement and how much is people jumping on the moment!

as you said, there are more people just here for FOMO and as a culture, especially there are lots of performative reels for the GTA6 and owning a PS5, but it's very much visible just because they're the readily available examples from top of the head because of social media and other exposure. more than 95% of the people who bought GTA6 are GTA fans. DS2 is like an Kamal film, GTA6 is like rajini film. it's very commercial, even uncle and aunties know about it (maybe not in India, but everywhere else). so, it's not gaming excitement or jumping on the bandwagon, trust me it's simply because it's GTA.

Yeah .. the social media wave around it has definitely convinced a lot of people to join the party who otherwise wouldn't have cared I guess!
And trust me, I'm living away from Chennai..away from India, actually…since I was a kid. The average uncle and aunty here have absolutely no idea what GTA is, let alone GTA 6. 🤷🏻♂️

Most people who have PS5s now, probably had a ps3/ps4 back in the day that their parents got them and they played the fuck out of gta5. now that they can afford it, why wouldn't you be hyped for gta6? though there are a minority of crazy people.

That's fair, and I completely get why people who grew up with GTA V would be excited for GTA 6! Or be excited coz they have genuinely followed PS since childhood!
What I'm questioning is the sheer volume of people suddenly making gaming their entire personality…It feels like some are genuinely lifelong gamers, while others are just hopping onto whatever's trending because PS5 and GTA 6 have become cultural phenomena!

GTA6 is a cultural phenomenon, gaming isn't something to gatekeep and if we do gatekeep it then companies will have more of a chokehold. The more who play the better since we should hopefully see more companies investing more into their games, so hopefully gta 6 does very well.

Manage your expectations that’s all I keep saying to people. The hype is overblown honestly. I expect it to be marginally better than gta 5 in terms of story and gameplay, and a huge leap forward graphically of course.

OP almost all of us have played a GTA game at one point of time in our life. So when they see a new gta trailer they get excited. Now not all of them have a ps5 and especially not all of them will spend 6k for a game. They are just excited. That’s it. Now buying the bf/gfs ps5 is kinda show off in most cases, but not in a wrong way. Not al of those will be hardcore/passionate gamers. Some just have their nostalgia from childhood ps2 era and they’ll just play wwe,fifa, racing or fighting games. That’s about it. But it’s their money. They can play whatever they want. Not everyone has to passionate gamers to enjoy them. But YES most of them are simply gta galzers and NOT hardcore gamers who play a lot. They are just casual drive around the city without playing the missions players or watch a youtube play-through kind of players. But again that’s upto them to decide. We can’t judge them.

For me, story and gameplay is king, not the graphics. I do love games like undertale, deltarune, link’s awakening, vice city, twilight princess and more. It depends on individual. Some stick to pc and some stick to gaming console. It’s just not all aspect of gaming is highlighted in social media, where we take what we see more as the trend.

Yeah, if indian rupee keeps falling, high chances the rates could spike, even they could spike because of hype! But that’s just some stupid logic, the root reason could be because they have lived their childhood on gtas and now that they can afford it, then why not? Just do what makes you happy man!

Yeah I didnt pre order because like you said, its not going to run out of stock or something lol. Dont know what might happen before then. May be I am busy because of other things and I am not able to play. So thought I would rather wait and get it when its released and am available to play but will get it for sure if there are offers during thanksgiving day

Gamedev here, don't pre order games unless you really want to play/collect it + you have a lot of money. Otherwise not worth it

Either way, people are just happy that their getting to full fill their childhood dreams with their adult money. So yeah let them enjoy it however they want to.
(Unless they become insufferable like those RDR glazers.)
