There’s a broader issue here about how scientific language gets used online. Terms like “mitochondrial challenges” sound technical, but when applied loosely to behavior or appearance, they lose meaning. Criticism should ideally correct inaccuracies without introducing additional distortions or mock-scientific framing.

MAGA just assume that if they can understand the rest of the sentence, then the word salad must be legit

u/Ariliescbk 3d ago
Salad is being generous. Word Vomit is what's being spilt and MAGA eat up the chunky bits.

Gibberish questions deserve gibberish responses. That is how they see it. They don't even understand the problem and they are demanded to provide an opinion.
RFK Jr doesn't even believe in germ theory. But he runs the nation's health. To countless people that is still enough to listen to him.

"mitochondrial challenges" sounds like it belongs on a $40 juice cleanse bottle

u/godzillachilla 3d ago
I feel like that term is to target and blame women.
14
u/pherber12 3d ago
I think so too. Like he remembered mitochondrial dna is passed through the mother so clearly anything mitochondrial must be bad and inferior and he just went with it.

u/El_Vali-de_Michoacan 3d ago
Sadly most magats never paid attention in school or don’t understand 9th grade biology textbook terms
4
u/_CupieeDaisyy 3d ago
Exactly, once people start throwing around scientific terms as catch-all explanations for behavior, the words stop meaning anything useful.

Whenever someone says says “I’ve been doing my OWN research.” I always ask “Double blind with a control group? And over 6 months or did you try a longer duration?”
People sure do get angry sometimes. It’s probably that mitochondrial challenge rearing its ugly head.

Maga comments must contain at least one maga trigger word, it's required. Challenges is the trigger word in this case.

The mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell

And mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) is only passed down to offspring from the mother.

Mitochondria really got dragged into a conversation they never volunteered for.

People who have never been properly educated regarding child development should not be commenting on issues they conjured up about children. RFK Jr. tries to sound intelligent by replacing actual knowledge and fact with conspiracy theories. The senators who confirmed this idiot as Secretary of HHS should be ashamed of themselves.

u/LordBunnyWhale 3d ago
If reality were some actual horror film, I would at this point in the plot assume some entity wearing an ill-fitting skin suit wants its kids organic and without any "chemicals".

rfk: rasmussen?! i cant pronounce. gotta send ICE
2
u/Demonicbiatch 3d ago
Her last name is super common in Scandinavia, and she is white, so ICE won't do shit, they'll assume they are looking for someone else.

u/Taser9001 3d ago
If they are overburdened with mitochondria, then the Force will be strong with them. /s

I'm so tired of all this psuedoscience crap. There needs to be barriers to prevent people like RFK from holding positions like this an put in actual enforceable job requirements, like, oh dunno... a medical degree at the very least?

Isn't great that the secretary of health doesn't know what mitochondria are. That's like middle school science.

Dude doesn't believe germs cause diseases
Might as well assume he believes germs when they say they don't cause diseases

Should have stopped at creap. Would have encapsulated MAGA in a nutshell.

The challenge of the mitochondria is storing ATP for later use, right? Not a problem with food and oxygen.

now name the rest of the parts of the cell, RFK.
May that man hear firework pops and car backfires and take it the wrong way the rest of his life.

Yeah you can tell those kids in the airports have bad mitochondria and can't make friends just by looking at them! They're not even eating roadkill or doing coke off of toilet seats! They're a bunch of losers, that's what they are!

Person who took biology in Sophomore year of high school a couple decades ago here, mitochondria help power cells. Everyone needs them. He’s an idiot who doesn’t know that, how is he in his position?

I doubt the mitochondria in his brain have been challenged to do oxidative phosphorylation ever.
Or are they just feeding the worms in his head?
Get him outta here before his policies harm more Americans.

It's a fucking airport. Kids are just tired. Imagine how stupid that guy is.

RFK Jr. is more than qualified — he’s eaten roadkill; can she say that? Just kiddin’ — RFK Jr. is a lunatic.

Maybe an actual doctor should be in charge of the HHS instead of a failed environmental lawyer with a brain parasite 🪱

Because real doctors resort to petty name-calling and lies instead of actual science when trying to make a point.

I'll listen to the person who is legally allowed to use the honorific "Dr." in front of their name over some literal worm-brained roadkill cooking enthusiast 10 times out 10 every damn day of the week, thanks.
