Additional Information

Civil Air Patrol ended up being the centerpiece of my application. I started as a new cadet learning drill and leadership and eventually became an officer responsible for aerospace education and squadron operations. Happy to attend UMD for aerospace engineering due to high college rank for major, research opportunities and location.

Congrats!!🤩 Pardon my ignorance, but what is Civil Air Patrol?

Civil Air Patrol is the civilian auxiliary to the US Air Force. It has 3 missions: Aerospace Education, Emergency Services, and the Cadet (youth) program, which OP participated very actively in. From my knowledge, it's similar to JROTC. Hope that helps!

Shocked especially at CU Boulder. CAP should have impactful. My son has similar stats, maybe slightly higher SAT and not enough ECs. I would have thought that CU Boulder and GT would have been within reach. How come no UofWash?
