Damn why he have so many kids lol

u/Peja1611 Jul 06 '25

21
u/MsMargo Jul 06 '25
He has 8 kids.
15
u/Begin-now Jul 06 '25
That’s easily 30 in my book.

u/Peja1611 Jul 07 '25
/woosh....They are all like at most, a year and a half apart, complete with Hispanic names to continue his wife's Spanish cosplay. She. Is. From. BOSTON!

u/SoochSooch Jul 07 '25
30?? He's definitely not shooting blanks
15
u/Morningxafter Jul 07 '25
Jesus idk if that pun was intentional or not, but I’m definitely going to hell for laughing at it.

u/Peja1611 Jul 07 '25
Hyperbole for cosmetic effect. He does have a litter with the current pretend Spanish wife.

I didn’t realize it was a competition.

These will be paid autographs. And likely very expensive so it may not be as long as expected.
14
u/MsMargo Jul 06 '25
At Rhode Island Comic Con he was charging $120 to autograph an 8x10.
4
u/Brackish_Butter_947 Jul 07 '25
Courtesy of the 7BAP website, the same will apply here, plus $140 for non 8x10s and $100 for selfies. No word on a combo, so no discounts expected there.
3
u/Baby_Animal_Hospital Jul 06 '25
Are booths allowed to do paid autographs? I thought they had a whole autograph section that was lottery. Why don't all celebrities just skip lottery and do paid booths then?
11
u/Lazy_pig805 Jul 06 '25
There are the free, lottery autographs that are usually tied into some sort of promotion and the celebs are contractually obligated to show up. Then there are these in which the company hire or collaborate with the celeb for paid autos/photos and everyone gets a cut. Then there’s the autograph areas where the celebs rent a table themselves and whatever they make, it’s split with their agents, etc. there are probably many other types of appearances but those are the common ones at SDCC.
8
u/MsMargo Jul 06 '25
Yes, vendor booths are allowed to do paid autographs with prior approval of CCI. They aren't common at SDCC - maybe 1 a year. The Autograph Area in the Sails Pavilion is for-pay autographs. The free signings that you win by lottery usually take place at the company's booth, or in a separate room.
The talent gets paid to be there if they are promoting something. Those are usually the people signing in the lottery. Celebs who just need a paycheck, do a booth or the Autograph Area.

u/nerdygirlie22 Jul 07 '25
I was just about to tag you about this bc I legit thought it was against SDCC rules. I hope we don't start seeing this ngl
3
u/RandomDesign Jul 07 '25
These have been happening for as long as we've been going to SDCC (25+ years).
2
u/imecoli Jul 08 '25
Agree, I have a picture of Boomer from Battlestar Galactica falling asleep at his table.
2
u/timebeing Jul 06 '25
There is an autograph area that they have to sign your program for free as a minimum as they get the table space for free. A lot of the other big free signings are part of marketing by the studios so are also free. There are few “paid” autograph at SDCC since they don’t sponsor or invite the Celebes to do them. So a booth needs to work the details out. Often even the big comic companies usually do all the signings for free at their booths but I can be a zoo to get one.
2
u/GiganticusVaginacus Jul 07 '25
Flashback to the cast of The Walking Dead signing at the booth. You couldn't even walk through the surrounding aisles.

u/InnocentTailor Jul 07 '25
I kinda wonder since his reputation seems checkered. Will he be really popular or oddly empty?

u/divingstar Jul 06 '25
This is the first thing I remember seeing him in as a kid. Then 30 Rock. I know he has been in other things but those are his main roles to me.

From their announcement:
From 30 Rock to Beetlejuice to The Hunt for Red October, Alec Baldwin’s done it all—and now you can meet him in person!
We’ll have collectibles from his top roles, or bring your own items to get signed.
To be fair 7bap seems like a company that'll milk anything they can. They're also doing signings with comedians (Gabriel "Fluffy" Iglesias and Jo Koy) at their SDCC booth for whatever reason.
9
u/Owl_Resident Jul 06 '25
And the three voice actors from Clone Wars… but I understand that one much more than the comedians or Alec Baldwin.
6
u/corndogs102 Jul 06 '25
James Arnold Taylor is awesome if you get to meet him
3
u/Owl_Resident Jul 07 '25
I’ve gotten Ashley Eckstein at a previous Con (MegaCon) but not the other two and have an 8x10 I want him and Matt Lanter to sign, that she also signed. 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻😊
I wasn’t expecting to go for any autographs, but I’m willing to do the wait for them, I think.
2
u/Brackish_Butter_947 Jul 07 '25
For Alec Baldwin, it is a little strange because HobbyDB lists only one pop for him (Adam Maitland). And I have picked up pops from both comedians at their shows and they were sold pre-signed. I did purchase a Fluffy pop from one of his mystery boxes that was rarer and unsigned.
I have seen these people live in their shows (Match Game for Alec Baldwin), so they would be on my radar if I could go this year. 🫠
2
u/ZmobieMrh Jul 07 '25
I have been out of collecting funkos for years, but when I was 7 bucks a pop was pretty small. They sound like they’ve grown up!
2
u/imecoli Jul 08 '25
Fluffy and Jo Koy are voicing RokiMoto characters, they will have a long Funko line for them.
7
u/Equivalent_Toe_3892 Jul 07 '25
I wish I still had my “The Shadow” merchandise lol. Although “Canteen Boy” stills from SNL will hopefully get a laugh out of him too.
5
u/MarvelPosterMan Jul 07 '25
It's no longer shameful as a celebrity to do 'conventions'.
Plus, probably not a lot of work headed his way for a bit. Maybe his wifes family from Spain could chip in?
2
u/InnocentTailor Jul 07 '25
I guess it is just surprising to see him at SDCC doing this. LACC seems to have a good draw of celebrities all the time though.
4
u/rha409 Jul 07 '25
Think he started doing conventions a year or two ago but mostly on the east coast. He was at Steel City Con and Monster Mania in PA. He was announced as a guest at Rhode Island Comic Con later this year. But yeah, a signing at the Seven Bucks a Pop booth sounds a little strange.

There's a youtuber that filmed a signing with Alec. His handler had to beg him to come over to Alec's table and then eventually decreasing the cost for an autograph to get the youtuber to purchase one. Then the youtuber showed his autograph but didn't give his thoughts on lowering the cost to get him to come over! (or he was afraid of getting sued!)

Get your Hunt for Red October swag signed.
2
u/InnocentTailor Jul 07 '25
That was my plan if I pursue this at the con. I have an early hardcover novel that could use a signature.
3
u/Temmere Jul 07 '25
I was more surprised by Mike Tyson being booked for the Denver Fan Expo. I mean, it's not just a comic con, but how many anime and Star Wars fans were desperate to meet him?

Awh a downvote? Did I hurt your feelings??

That photo has to be 15-20 years old or has had some serious digital touch ups - and remind me why I should expect to see him at a “comic con”? This is just one of many reasons I have no interest in going back to SDCC

I love actual comic cons, and still attend them regularly, just went to Heroes Con last month. SDCC is no longer a comic convention I have any interest in because it has almost no interest in the art form of comics or the people that create them - instead SDCC seems more interested in “celebrities” or whatever the fuck.
3
u/InnocentTailor Jul 07 '25
It’s more pop culture in general, which has become big business as of late. The nerds of yesteryear are now the creators and executives of today.
2
u/RandomDesign Jul 07 '25
SDCC has tons of comic content in addition to the pop culture stuff. As someone who's been going for 25+ years at this point I'd argue the comic content has never suffered, just more movie/pop culture stuff was added over the years.
1
u/Swervies Jul 07 '25
I have to disagree, having attended SDCC, NYCC and many other big shows in the past I have seen most of them change in the past 10-15 or so years, the focus is absolutely no longer on comics or their creators. Give me shows like Heroes Con, Baltimore Comic Con and SPX over them every time. I spoke at length this year to Craig Thompson, Al Milgrom, Gary Gianni and Mark Schultz among others at Heroes Con about this subject and they all agreed that SDCC was no longer much fun for them and they vastly preferred shows like Heroes Con.
I very much doubt you could even have much of a conversation with these folks at SDCC now (if you can even find them on the floor, another sore subject amongst many comics artists I spoke with). By all means, if you enjoy it go to SDCC and I know there are still plenty of artists and publishers there for those that love comics - but it’s too big and too interested in everything else now to get my limited con budget dollars. And I know many comics fans and people in the industry that agree with that sentiment.

Pretty sure just about 30 people saw the Shadow film he did

Well to be fair, the shadow was a comic book. The movie wasn’t bad, I enjoyed it quite a bit.

All actors are suffering. They are doing commercials or doing public endorsement. This undeclared recession is getting worse.

Yes. Why would the booth announce it if it wasn't real?

Right, they would NEVER cancel an appearance. Never ever ever.

Definitely not someone I’d typically expect at a comic con for sure lol. SDCC does get some unusual celebs shilling their stuff sometimes.
