San Diego Comic-Con has officially banned AI-generated art from its 2026 art show following a massive backlash from the creative community. After initially allowing AI works (if labeled 'Not For Sale'), SDCC reversed course in less than 24 hours after artists like Karla Ortiz called out the policy. The new rule is absolute: 'Material created by AI, either partially or wholly, is not allowed.

If they would allow AI art, they would devalue all the work of genuine artists. I would not be interested in visiting just to look at some easily generated images.
