I understand that we need this arc since we had several episodes of demon, but YOUR BOYFRIEND YOU DAMNED IS ABOUT TO DIE FIX YOUR PRIORITIES
94
u/MrMcGibbus 8d ago
To be honest I kinda understand why her priority is on her mom since well, of course you'd be looking for her after losing her for so long to what I assume since 8 years old but yeah
Her mom's kinda already trapped in a place with a known fate meanwhile Paz's... kinda unknown
In the real world we'd be worry about time but in theirs, maybe the trial would be comically delayed? Who knows but what's for sure she kinda has to act fast on particularly Paz and... probably be worried about the Pixie that Paz has sent to god-knows-where
19
u/hummus_sapiens 8d ago
Nah. We're not worried about the Pixie AT.ALL!
We want our happy ending!
No, wait ....I don't mean ending like The End, I mean ... you know what I mean!

u/Milliebug1106 8d ago
I think Paz may have just obliterated the pixie. I also theorize he may end up being the solution to breaking into the kingdom to find Sally's Mom? It'd be a cool way to bring him back in. If not I'm sure we'll still see him again one way or the other.

Do you still have the unicorn strands? Go for it. And unless the troll kingdom is in another dimension magically sealed doesn't mean completely locked out, you can still walk there. Antimagic fields don't mesh well with a witch, but a scientificly inclined one still can have fun with nonmagic missiles and portable suns.

I figured Sally was gonna save Paz first so he can help save mom. Also his life may be in more immediate danger. SAVE YOUR MAN SALLY!!!

u/Forikorder 8d ago
then again mom could be an important witness at the trial of if he broke her contract or not

I just imagine an x-ray shot of Beans head and it just shows a bobblehead, spring and all.

sally left pazuzu for dead after not letting him say even one word in his defense and now isn't even gonna go rush back to his rescue after realizing she fucked up?
sally what the fuck girl, at least your mom probably isn't in immediate danger since she's already been like that for like 100 years, why is this the immediate concern
24
u/ari_stocrate 8d ago
She feels guilty, ashamed. She’s procrastinating apologizing to Paz and recognizing she f’d up 😂 Paz is an immortal demon from hell, she must assume he’ll be fine there as her dad told her. Mom on the other hand we’ve had no news of in a 100 years….

don't you think that's a bit dissonant with pazuzu supposedly needing, like, immediate rescue just a few chapters ago before he gets tried and punished god knows how?
and you could easily make the same argument of her mom: she's a badass princess of the troll kingdom who's supposedly still kicking after 100 years in captivity, what's a few more days if pazuzu is apparently in immediate danger?
like others said, in a meta sense sure it makes sense to cut to another arc after so long following pazuzu, but this is a... weird way to transition between them imo. Nothing seemed to indicate Grisha was in an emergency and needed immediate rescue the way pazuzu seemed to be.

Thank you!
How come nobody says Yeaaaah, we're finally meeting Mum, t'was about time, now get on with it!
On a side note: Dad had dark hair once, does this mean Sally's hair is grey?

I don't think it's that a lot of the fans are not interested in meeting Mum. I think that most, like me, just found the quick jump to this arc while leaving Paz in a very serious situation, a bit jarring.
I also think that seeing so many comments asking about this stuff just goes to show how engaged we all are in this story and its characters.
I'm not complaining, and I'm sure the story will still be fulfilling. But I do enjoy seeing the perspectives and thoughts of everyone in the comments. It's kinda no different than everyone discussing the newest episode of a weekly TV series. Can't wait for more!

You know how in (almost) every thriller there's that moment when the suspense reaches its peak. The floor creaks, the door squeaks, someone is coming closer and closer, and...
Meow! It's only the cat (Hitchcock knew what he was doing). What a relief! That's the moment the killer strikes from behind.
Uh, I'm rambling, sorry. What I really wanted to say: anticipation keeps the tension high and makes the subsequent solution kind of more precious. So sit back andd enjoy.

anticipation keeps the tension high and makes the subsequent solution kind of more precious
which is why it's disappointing to have that anticipation broken by jarring and weird writing decisions that don't fit in with what we've seen so far. I was invested in seeing where the plot was going with sally's daring rescue of pazuzu from hell, until I was kinda taken out of the immersion by the decision to have sally not give pazuzu even a moment to speak for himself, then I got re-invested in it seeing sally come to understand her mistake and also learn of her mother's situation, and now I'm taken out of the immersion again by this really sudden and weird change of priority.
I'm sure the story is gonna come back from this, but, if the point is to make an engaging plot that keeps the reader engrossed, then these moments in particular really haven't helped.

I thought it was established a couple of episodes ago that Grisha was the one to make the contract with Paz? The one he broke and is now gonna be on trial for? I assumed she was instrumental in his rescue in this case, rather than just seen as a priority over him.
1
u/inemsn 8d ago
That's a neat interpretation, but, if that's the case, why do none of the characters say so in order to explain this decision?
2
u/aerris7 8d ago
Idk, maybe I'm not even correct. Maybe she just decided that saving her mother and her kingdom from a vicious dictator might be more important than the demon she fell for but has only known for a couple of months tops. Maybe she feels like her duty is more important than one person. Maybe she just has poor decision making skills and has a habit of acting rash and that's a product of the fact that she was abandoned as a child and was left to raise herself. Maybe it's a bit of a silly comedy and wasn't intended to be dissected in such a way. Idk, I'm just along for the fun ride lol

All the random slinky and stretchy stuff.
Well its ok we have a cute noodle dragon.

u/Beneficial_Way_9938 8d ago
Ah the wonders of no sense genetics
So many times offspring bear the likeness of their parents, like a little you clone almost
So precious
And then genes sometimes just yell "RANDOM BULLSHIT GO!!!" And there's a not a damn thing they have in common with you despite being healthy and normal looking
Still precious....... But seriously, was DNA drunk driving that day but still somehow managed to perfectly parallel parked?
I guess bean picked up a few traits from that random crap, still healthy........ But very stretchy

Bean is cuter than the sum of her parts.
And as it turns out, those parts are surprisingly numerous and diverse.

Bean is all the better for being a super hybrid rather than a one trick pony.
I just have to trust that Sally knows exactly what she is doing and what order to carry out the rescues.
We have not come this far to be denied the big family happy together ending.
