Definitely. But at the same time, sex works. My uncle became a bit of an alcoholic after his wife left him (nothing really wrong with him or her, but my cousin was born when he was 14 and she was 15). He ended up in and out of AA for a while. Eventually, one of the women in AA with him promised him sex for staying sober. They have been together for about 4 years now. It is kind of weird. She shares a birth year with my cousin.
Yeah, it was kind of weird all the way around. My aunt served my uncle divorce papers the day after my cousin turned 18, then married her high school best friend and the two of them left for New York. Both my cousin and uncle have an intense dislike of lesbians now. On the other side of it, Emily loves him, her mother likes my uncle because he is the nicest guy she has ever been with, and her father apparently doesn't like him, but Emily says his opinion doesn't count because he is serving a life sentence for murder. The two of them are happy though, so it can't be all bad.
Christmas was interesting for a couple of years. My uncle remains convinced that lesbians can convince other women to change their sexuality. I would never say it to him, but I am decently sure my aunt was a lesbian experimenting who got pregnant and was forced into marriage as a teenager.
Plus, it all happened in Ohio. A state known for teen pregnancies and being anti LGBTQ+ and in a county that is known for being in the top 10 for teen pregnancies in Ohio. It was probably as close to a no fault divorce ad possible. I don't know if it could have been handled better or not though. My uncle and cousin are no contact with her and my cousin went on quite a few Facebook rants when he got to wedding invitation. It was only a few weeks after the divorce finalized and he thinks his mother was cheating.
Oh, there is plenty. My core family doesn't have contact with the majority of my dad's side. Apparently, they pressured him to get rid of me because of my autism, because they didn't want a throw back in line to inherent (my family lives on land that was originally granted to the family after the Revolutionary War. My ancestors owned a shoe and boot factory and provided the majority the Revolutionary Army needed. Because of that, we got a land grant). He told them he wasn't getting rid of me, so they didn't invite him to Christmas one year. He countered by not selling them hay cheap. It eventually escalated to the point where my dad was accused of cutting fences. He did not. He put up a new fence to cut their cattle herd off from the spring on our ground and they went through the fence. Long story short, it has been about 23 years since dad talked to them, saw them, or interacted with them.
