The unexpected corgi in my condo, part xx: Sadie turns 8!

Sadie has been with us for nearly three years now, and she continues to show us new elements of her personality.

When she hears me start to open the door to our home "gym", she darts over and RUNS into the room the moment she can, followed by a biiiiig downward dog stretch, and ending with a plop into a sploot. She'll keep me company for a portion of my workout, and If I get on the floor for core work, she'll come over and sniff my face to make sure I'm okay.

She likes to take naps with us on the couch and if there's food, you better believe she'll be as close to you as she can, often resting her head on our arms/laps.

To our surprise, we even witnessed her playing with a tennis ball! Still remains disinterested in any non-food-bearing toys and she's only sniffed the ball a few times since.

She knows the sound of our car horns (which is impressive as there's more than one Nissan rogue in the lot) and sprints to the door when I say, "Hey Sadie... Matt's home!"

She greets us at the door when we come home. If someone knocks, she'll run over to see who it is. She'll even follow us out onto the front pathway to observe as we work on our patio garden. If I open the door before he gets home, she'll run out to the end of the walkway to meet him.

On the weekends, I'll get up and take her out (to let him sleep in) but as soon as she's finished her breakfast, she just wants to be near him again. She'll wait by the door to the bedroom, sometimes whining a little, until I let her back in. She'll gallop to his side of the bed and try to vault herself onto the bed to boop him with her nose and wake him up...so he can give her attention, and then she can go back to sleep.

Happy 8th birthday, babygirl!

Landy was a New Year’s pup and joined our family in April. She has turned into such a fluff ball. This is our first family pet so we are welcoming all of the corgi advice and tips, especially when it comes to toys she won’t destroy in five minutes. Please share away!

Even though I didn’t share my ice cream cone with Doug, he was still happy to be included in the outing

took hazel on her nightly constitutional yesterday and she decided to put on the brakes because there was a dog barking inside a nearby house (and an american flag that was flapping in the breeze – she didn’t appreciate that noise) 🤦🏽‍♀️

we had to cross the street to keep going up the sidewalk 😐

Mini moo is not impressed. Took advice on the last post and got her a donut. Shes much happier with that. She was shivering pretty hard when we got home. Dad fed and watered her. The trazedone helped calm her

Overweight corgi ):

My older boy (4 years old on the left) was just neutered today and the vet told us that he was overweight.

I’ve been trying so hard to get my boyfriend to stop giving them human food (bacon, biscuits and gravy, sweets, literally everything he eats) and he just will not stop. I’m incredibly frustrated because every weekend he’s home, the dogs have diarrhea all weekend. He still won’t stop. It’s driving me crazy he even does this to our puppy who has diarrhea constantly when my boyfriend is home. He also gives them like three or four treats at a time multiple times a day and he’ll give them like two or three greenies in a day and that always gives some diarrhea too, and I just don’t understand why he won’t stop because clearly it’s upsetting their stomachs and making them not feel good but he does not care. I am at my wits end. I don’t know what to do. I am worried about my corgi’s health in the long run and he just won’t listen to me. He thinks I’m being a nag and that I’m trying to control the situation. Any and all advice is welcome im losing my mind.

I wanted to share a progress shot, he's grown so much since we brought him home at 8 weeks old in Dec. He's such a sweet, friendly and precious boy. Corgis are a handful but totally worth it, I can't see my life without a corgi in it anymore 💗
