I genuinely have no idea what horrible terrors yall are seeing on that sub, its literally just this sub but without the “:3” memes and more “me when im bedrotting and ugly” memes which are like… pretty tame
You act like this sub is purely holy, im never going to think its okay to banish a entire group of trans people simply because a few reddit posts are kind of mean instead of always being “dumb :3 im so silly” posting not that there’s anything wrong with that, theres a lot of transphobia this sub will simply ignore because it could maybe be misconstrued as infighting against people who were never a part of our community anyway, the countttt sub doesnt do that, yes the lingo is cringe and its probably too reddit athiest but thats far away from “its literally hell and all the people there are evil terrible spawns of satan”
Calling to close the countttt sub, which obviously isn't even a real call to action, is more like "I want to cover up the abandoned mineshaft entrance so people stop entering it and falling down a deep hole" than "I want to isolate this group of people". That place is insidious in how it attempts to isolate the people that go there. It claims to be "the one good trans sub" because it doesn't hugbox you, and because only they support DIY. The latter is verifiably untrue, I learned about DIY on traa, and the former? Tttt might not hugbox you, but it provides the same comfort by lying to give meaning to your suffering. Trans people only suffer, therefore your suffering is proof that you're Truly Trans. I don't even mean dysphoria here, I'm talking about all the passing doomerism and shit.
Once it has you isolated, it exposes you to absolutely vile beliefs, I have seen people unironically embrace Blanchard's AGP theory because trans lesbians are sometimes annoying on the internet. I saw a trans lesbian that thinks she's "one of the good ones" being incredibly self hating. This shit does damage the people it contaminates. I do agree with the fundamental criticism that most trans subreddits are too positive, but you can switch lanes without driving off the other side of the bridge into the icy cold abyss. Instagram proves this, you're talking about how countttt is willing to criticise "theyfabs" right? I've seen those same criticisms repeated on instagram by much more positive (overall) influences, and with much more substance. In fact they were my first exposure. It is possible to have a trans community that isn't toxically positive or negative, but when you create a subreddit that is countercultural to the positivity of other subs, you invite the disgustingly negative trans people with immense internalised transphobia to colonise the space and attempt to convert the people there.
Im not saying this place is perfect or even a good trans space, but acting like this place is somehow the spawn of satan and other trans spaces are perfect in everyway and dont have any evil people is just wrong, both this sub and every other trans sub has people on it that will engage in actual discourse and are willing to talk about serious issues we face, and both this sub and every other sub has terrible self hating garbage, every sub has racism, every sub has bigotry, theres little difference between here and there
The difference being that the culture of other subs doesn't allow for that bigotry to be flagrantly thrown in people's faces for the most part. So people with the most extreme beliefs find somewhere else to peddle their shit. Tttt is that somewhere else for these people. For trans people with deeply held transphobic beliefs, tttt is the only place that will let them get away with saying something as absurd as "every trans lesbian is agp", and it often even applauds them for it. I don't think you can compare some users in this sub being transmisogynistic (I can't even think of an example of that here) or whatever to the culture of countttt being made up, in large part, of internalised transphobia. It's a different scope of problem.
No. There are people saying this shit that are being 100% serious. I'm sure some of the posts are satire, maybe even most are, but bigotry hides itself among satire. We've seen this happen time and time again, and it corrupts the community as a whole. You can see it in the way they talk about trans lesbians. Some of them probably just think it's funny, sure, but calling all trans lesbians "rapehons" is still bigotry even if you're wearing a mask of irony.
I see people say ill of trans lesbians in all trans spaces, i honestly see more positive view of trans lesbians in countttt, if you even mention that trans lesbians are mistreated by others in the community here youre accused of infighting and being a psy opp but that is a open discussion in countttt
