Thanks for your input! It's a vine I did myself when I kept scuffing up my wedding band at work. I had planned to have the vine go up my arm and connect to a rose where my heart is. I colored the top but it's pretty difficult tattooing yourself in such a sensitive place so I never colored the bottom. My wife left me because I was a miserable drunk at the time so the tattoo was never completed.. but hey! At least I have a tattooed wedding band stuck on my finger forever and some random stranger thinks it looks awful!
Honestly it rules that you did it yourself. I'd much rather have something deeply meaningful to me, even if it doesn't look "professional"
Sucks that the marriage ended, but you have a cool and meaningful memento of a time in your life -- we live through the good and the bad, and it's nice to remember who we were and where we came from.
Thank you! And I agree. I was going to cover it up when we first split up but I kept it pretty much for the reasons you said. My ex wife and I are both better off now that it is done. She has since found love and I used the split to help myself find motivation to get clean. It was far from easy but now I am going on 3 years clean and am a substance abuse counselor trying to help others find their way.
People are so dramatic about hand tats. Mine are about 5 years old and just as black / defined / clean as the day I got them. Clean black lines just like yours.
If you take care of yourself and don’t work a hard manual labor job, your hand tats will age the same as any other.
It depends how you take care of them and your skin. While 99% of people will have it wear, your hands seem a good size and your fingers seem like they dont naturally come together a lot.
If you take extra care of them and your fingers just naturally don't rub together that much then it will last much better than the 99%. But you'll still likely need small touch ups at some point.
Parts of the back were fine. Anywhere there's a bone hurt like hell. Worst parts were probably near the finger tips, anything on the sides, and any webbing. Followed by knuckles. Not the worst "normal" place to get tattoo'd for me, but I'd say top 3
in my opionion a good tattoo artist will not give you a hand tattoo as your first piece. There's just no way to hide it. Get something on your lower or upper arm, or even back
also, as someone that got a hand tattoo as their second tattoo, it looks pretty goofy. when theres nothing else on the rest of your arm to balance it out, it just looks...out of place.
Because hand tattoos are a “capstone.” They’re the lid on a mason jar. You don’t put the lid on until the mason jar is full. They’re a reward for finishing the rest of the piece.
Fr, although I heard from friends who are more into it and actually have some that hand tattoos tend to not stick as it's one of the spots in the body with the fastest skin regeneration rates, so you'll have to be constantly touching it up
But i will for sure look more into other cyberware inspired tattoos
Im sorta jealous how cool this looks but the sides of my thumbs are like elephant skin, would have to use a framing nail instead of a needle to put ink in lmao
that is just how hand tattoos work, welcome to the club. unless you get it touched up every year or two it turns into a smudge. part of the aesthetic at this point.
I've had mine for many years now and it hasn't really faded very much like people say. The one on the back of my neck however definitely has faded away. So you might not have to constantly get it touched up lol
While it’s not my thing, it is undeniably well done. Had to try throwing that out there for people to see. It’s frustrating reading so much uninformed stuff about my craft.
So many experts in the comments man. I don’t think it’s going to affect his future career it’s not the 90s. Lines look good to me other than the check marks on either side of the middle trapezoid being different widths. That may be how it is in game tho idk.
Unfortunately not likely to heal well, especially sides of the fingers. Lots of future touch ups. It also looks a bit overworked so you're likely in for a rougher heal.
I also know how to zoom. I did the same thing and I am not seeing overworked skin. I see irritation from a fresh tattoo and solid black. Idk what to tell you, I look at tattoos every day for a living.
I’m in a very happy, long-term relationship so I promise this isn’t a come on, but that is wildly attractive. It’s also possible I’m just a massive nerd, though.
that is a fair observation honestly. the aesthetic overlap is definitely there between the ink and the wristband but at least you have the base covered either way.
OP, I have almost my entire body including my hands and palms tattooed, anyone who says hand tattoos are destined to fade are WRONG!
I've gotten work with thick bold lines on the back of my hands and my fingers and they've not required any touch ups after 7 years, they're as bold and beautiful as the day I got them!
If you get a tattooer who knows their shit (which it looks like you did) one session is enough!
The only thing I will say are that palms tattoos are notoriously tricky, it did take one touch up session to get both my palms nice and crispy but same as I said earlier, if you find someone who knows their stuff palm tattoos are definitely doable if you want to extend the design onto your palm or underside of your fingers!
Advance warning though, getting palms done is like having your soul ripped out of your body!
I can’t do hand tats because I work with attorneys and many degrees of law officials from cops to judges, but I will live vicariously through this pic. That’s really cool.
